If you wish to change your username to something else, you will be given 72 hours to do so beginning this Tuesday and going through Thursday. To change your username, all you will need to do is open up any of the My YWS pages (preferences, personal info, or avatar/photo) and you will see that you can now edit your username in addition to everything else.

However, you will only have that 72 hour period to do so and any requests to have your username changed back will be ignored until January 1st. When changing your username, it is always a good idea to note the change in your signature.

Oooh. Nate. This is interesting. I think I might change mine...

What made you decide to do this?

I receive a lot of requests for username changes, but it's a hassle to change usernames. So offering three day periods every now and then is just administratively easier. So if this first three day period turns out well (that is, no one abuses it), I'll do it three or four times a year.

hopefully it won't lead to lots of confusion? #_#

If it's possible, perhaps, after the conversion, we make a datebase of users, showing their old names and who they are now? That might help out, as well at the signature thing.

I really am glad for the opportunity, but I can see how it can cause lots of problems. XD

Yeah, they do this often at another message board I post on. It gets really confusing really fast. Signatures are probably the best way to go about it.

But still! I'll finally be rid of that annoying underscore and backwards username of mine. xD

Cool! I've been sort of regretting the "Baroness" part for various reasons. Will do! Thanks for providing the opportunity, Nate! ^_^

Indeed.

I heavily recommend that users with a ton of numbers, underscores, etc. in their names take advantage of this.

Because Turkey175832021 is just unnecessary. On this site it is very likely that no one is named "Turkey" so just take the name. Alternatively, you could take a character name and make it your own.

Hmmm...sounds interesting, but I think I'm gonna stick with "gyrfalcon," just suits me. ;)

I bet it'll turn into a race to see who actually gets to be Turkey175832021.

And then they'll change their username right back. :P
