Happy Birthday Jesus!

Lately, I've been thinking about you.
And everyone trying to make it without you.
I know plenty here who doubt you.
And even more who complain about you.

There are those who say your birth causes pain
Highlights and causes financial strain
and they never have enough stuff, to give or to get.
... Your gift is free, how could we forget?

Others struggle with sorrow and overwhelming stress
Felling unwanted, unloved, lonely and depressed
Unable in your name to hope and trust
Missing the meaning. Emmanuel. God with us

This year I don't want to shop till I drop
Christmas can’t be bought, this pretending has to stop
So I'm searching the Bible to understand
If anyone realized your plan

Did Gabriel know how they desired a son
When he told them Elijah would come
Yes, John recognized You and jumped in the womb
But only You knew about the empty tomb

And did Joesph cry when he thought Mary untrue
Because she was willing to unflinchingly serve you
Did he wake from his dream to wed his bride
trusting that somehow, someway you would provide

Was Mary afraid as she slowly traveled that long way
Only to finally arrive with nowhere to stay
Did she know that you chose this humble road
That this was long ago foretold

Were the angels stunned when you abdicated your throne
And made your first public appearance in Bethlehem alone
I can only imagine that stables smell
God in a manger, could anyone tell?

Enter the shepherds, watching the flock
That heavenly Chorus was probably a shock
The glory of the Lord lit up the night
and after visiting you, they told everyone in sight

Even the night sky rearranged to proclaim your birth
Obediently adding a new star to show the world your worth
I hope I would've searched for you too
Church signs claim wise men still do
