Not one knows the other,
In this masquerade.
Not one sees the other,
For who he really is.
No one sees who I am,
No one knows,
The company they have.
That's the way it is,
In this masquerade.
That's the way it is,
When you play the hidden.
When the music begins,
And the dance room fills,
No one seems to care,
That they don't even know
Who they have as friends.
I guess they don't care,
As long as they don't have to be
Seen or exposed.
I look around
The masquerade.
Everyone seems so happy,
Dancing,
Talking,
Laughing,
But no one is really,
Doing,
Saying,
Anything.
Yet they do everything,
To keep from showing,
Any form of deeper emotion.
Does no one get tired,
Of this game?
Does no one long,
To be them self again?
Does no one want,
People to be honest with them?
Does no one want to be
Free again?
I want to be free.
This stupid mask
Has been suffocating me.
I want to be able to breathe,
Finally.
I want to see the world
With new eyes.
I want to see beyond
One's lies.
Most of all,
I want to be me.
I took off my mask,
So everyone could see,
Who I am,
And who has claimed,
To be their friend.
They could also see,
The very depths
Of inside of me.
Gasps, and shrieks,
From the women
Were heard.
Laughs, and murmurs,
From the men
Were also heard.
Each one judging my appearance,
Yet each one
Is a hypocrite.
Finally noticing my surroundings,
I leave this masquerade.
My breath was taken,
As the wind met me.
The whole world seemed
Brighter than before.
And my heart feels lighter,
Than ever before.
I guess that's how it is,
When you leave the masquerade.
I guess that's how it is,
When you learn to
Be free again.
let me know what you think please. Any suggestions of change will be much appriciated.
