A member named Drytear recently joined and spammed several members of YWS. While the e-mail was nothing bad, it was spam and it's troubling to me that someone would join the site just to spam members. Needless to say, drytear was banned.

However, I am now filing a complaint with her service provider and the provider of her website. Before I do so, I need to know how many members got the e-mail as what Drytear did is illegal under the provisions of the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003. Can't really do much about it, but my real hope here is to deter other people from doing the same.

Anyways, for future reference for everyone else, I have no problem with people advertising their site in The Lounge area. But, I do have a problem with people joining just to spam members.

I got the link from her, and PMd back, but didn't get any response. Was this a mass pm, 'cause I didn't think normal members could do that..?

Nope, normal members cannot do mass PM. Somehow, she must have had the time to go through one by one and do it.

I got the e-mail, then promptly deleted it.

I got it and ignored it, i now may delete it.

I recieved it, clicked on the link and took no further action.

hang on.. have some people got e-mails from her, and some people got PMs?

I didnt recieve anything however she must be destroyed, I HATE spammers, maybe some program automatically submitted PMs to people.
