Introduction
As the mods can tell you, I've been making somewhat over-excited posts about YWS' growth over the past month. See, the problem is that I'm a numbers guy; it's why I majored in Economics and why I obsessively follow the Count's twitter feed. So when YWS shows growth, I tend to talk to about it.
And for the past month, YWS has been showing extremely robust growth. In fact, by some measures (such as pageviews), it's never grown faster or been bigger. And far from slowing down, it just keeps going up every week. This is in contrast to what happens normally, which is activity during the week goes in waves. Instead, activity over June 2010 has been more like a series of steps. Some pictures I drew to help illustrate:
So for this amazing activity, all I have to say is that you guys are awesome. As I said on my profile earlier, June's robust activity is due to your reviews, your crazy antics, and your generosity.
So lets check out what you guys did, eh?

The Analysis
Usually, June is a quiet month. That has not been true this June whatsoever...
Reviews
On June 27, YWS held a Review Day. Without this day, we probably would've had 400 fewer reviews in the month, which would've still put June 2010 firmly in the top 10 months. But thanks to all of you, June 2010 instead ranks as the second largest reviewing month in YWS history with 3,948 reviews.
Additionally, the review to work ratio for June was 3.4 to 1. This is very good; the average for that number is 2.97. However, I am hoping to slowly boost the ratio month by month until a ratio of 4 is considered normal.
The New Profiles
In June 2010, 5,667 comments were made on profiles, with the vast majority (~90%) of that coming in the last 20 days of the month. That is more than the previous 8 months combined.
Indeed, it seems like the new profiles are one of the main causes of the sudden outburst in activity. Prior to June 11, growth was what I expected it to be. After June 11, YWS began to grow and grow and grow. Amazing what one new addition can do.
The Various Metrics
One number stands out above all the rest for June 2010: pageviews. For the month of June, there were 839,524 pageviews. That's a 12.7% increase over the previous record holder of May 2010, which is nuts. In fact, if growth continues just at the same constant rate as where it's been for the last week of June, then July 2010 will likely see around 950,000 pageviews total. However, there's always a lot of volatility month to month so it's hard to predict where July 2010 will end up.
To put this in perspective, in June 2009, not one day had more than 20,000 pageviews. In June 2010, every day had more than 20,000 pageviews, and nine of those days had more than 30,000 pageviews. That makes for year on year growth of 87%!
Analysis Conclusion
June 2010 was nuts.
