Well actually, I love emo music, but I almost look like the furthest thing from emo.

This thread is just meant for members to come and say if they like emo or not, a list of emo bands you like, and discussion of particular emo bands.

Although I like some things by the Used too.... And Greenday isn't emo, its pop.

The Used are a big guilty pleasure of mine...I can't find either of my CDs though...

Well, I'm not emo ... and I certainly do take a lot of offence when anybody calls my emo (because of my "hair"???) but The Used aren't half-bad ... some good songs.

Green Day just isn't emo at all lol.

By the way, nobody better even think of starting to emo-bash.

Ooh, hard to pick between My Chemical Romance and Green Day. I saw Green Day live in June and they were aaaawesome...I like a few songs I've heard by Finch and other bands mentioned too, so I guess I'm into emo. Is HIM emo? I listened to their album and all the songs just sounded so similar, I didn't like them at all.

Do Nightwish and Within Temptation count?

Can someone give me a definition of emo, just so I'm clear? I have a vague idea...

It's short for "emotional hardcore"

Think of it this way.. Heavy Metal music has kind of a demonic growling voice with a lot of bass guitar and deep sounds.

Emo music isn't too much different, it has more of a crying, calling, or mourning voice with outbursts of singing in between.

Lyrics of emo music is basically poetry about life, people they love or used to, death, and darkness.

And i'm not sure how to really describe how the instruments are used differently from rock...

...And I only know My Chemical Romance, Greenday and All-American Rejects out of those bands...and I like all 3...
