I like the first logo a bit better, but only because it is less clashing and distracting than the other one. Plus, it looks good on the back of books.
Ubi caritas est vera, Deus ibi est.
"The mark of your ignorance is the depth of your belief in injustice and tragedy. What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the Master calls the butterfly." ~ Richard Bach
I like the second; and maybe we could have the pencil and the sword crossing, and have Young Writers Society engraved on the pencil with a little No. 2 after it.
Or! Or maybe the blue oval/circle thingy behind it should be taken out and exchanged for a square! Maybe no shape at all? Maybe make it a darker blue fading into that blue if we keep it?
We could have little stick figures or something like that holding the pencil and sword, too! They could be chimps or some other sort of monkey! And they could be standing on a pile of paper or books!
AAAAAH! SO MANY POSSIBILITIES!
*gets overwhelmed with ideas and passes out*
Our happiness here is all vain glory,
This false world is but transitory,
The flesh is weak, the Fiend is slee
Timor mortis conturbat me.
--William Dunbar
I actually like the Quill idea. It gives a more sophisticated, fancier appeal to this website. I'm sure a lot of us are hoping we could become Classic authors, and The Quill gives a respect to the classics, considering Jane Austen, Miguel Cervantes, Victor Hugo, and along with many others wrote their classic novels with one.
Edit : And not to mention, If we have a sword in the logo, It fits with the theme.
