Overall, YWS is still mostly American, although increasingly less so. Two years ago, nearly 70% of YWSers were from the United States. Today, it's just barely 60%. And nowhere is this relative decline in American visitors more evident than in the top 10 cities from May 19 to June 18, 2009:

1. London, UK
2. New York, NY, USA
3. Sydney, NSW, Australia
4. Los Angeles, CA, USA
5. Manchester, UK
6. Wellington, New Zealand
7. Edinburgh, UK
8. Auckland, New Zealand
9. Don Mills, Ontario, Canada
10. Manila, Philippines

For the first time ever, the UK has more cities in the top 10 than the United States. And for your viewing pleasure, a map of where YWSers come from:

These are just views, right? Not actual accounts that were made in those cities?

You got to rephrase your question. As you're asking it, you're asking: is the map above just views or just accounts? But I think you mean: is the map above counting both views and accounts?

In any case, I think you misunderstand it. The map above displays visits, not views. Views is a different metric counting the number of pages that have been viewed. Visits show the total number of visitors over a period of time. In YWS' case, we've had ~500,000 views and ~45,000 visits.

All numbers count everyone; it counts members, one-time visitors, lurkers, etc.

Okay, seriously, how is Don Mills on this list?! It's barely a place!
"He yanked himself free and fled to the kitchen where something huddled against the flooded windowpanes. It sighed and wept and tapped continually, and suddenly he was outside, staring in, the rain beating, the wind chilling him, and all the candle darkness inside lost."

Wow, congratulations then.
There once was a cat.
He wasn’t particularly fat.
Fuzzy was his favorite mat.
And really, that was that.

Oh, but did you really think so?
Keep reading, it’s just the start of the show!
And as for how far this tale will go…
Well, even the cat doesn’t know.

My first reaction upon seeing a place in Ontario on the list:

Don't you mean Toronto?

Don Mills is actually a neighborhood in Toronto. It's not just some random small town. (It's actually proof how big YWS is. If a single neighborhood gets on the top-ten list. ;))

If I meant Toronto, I would've said Toronto! haha

Nope, Don Mills. YWS is still small enough that if someone is active enough, they can get their town (no matter how small) into the top 10. It's becoming exceedingly difficult these days to do that, and Don Mills is probably the smallest town in the top 50.

I don't know who on the site is from Don Mills, but my guess is that there are at least a few people. Plus, it could also just be an error on the part of Google.

Ohh. So that's how it works.

Although if I remember correctly Toronto was on the top-ten list a little while ago? Not sure. It's one of Canada's biggest cities, so I'm just surprised it's not on there. xD
