Lots of statistics to go over! I've compiled the stats for January 2009, as well as the stats for the years 2008 & 2007.

January 2009:

January 2009 was an interesting month, especially because I had not bothered to even look at the stats until a month after January finished. So I ended up being quite surprised!

For one, the number of visits reached 49,134 for the first time ever. In fact, that's an almost 20% increase over the next closest month of April 2008! Pageviews reached 691,320, which again is astonishing.

Of the visits, 16,355 were unique visitors, which itself is equal to the visits number from just a little over a year ago. When people visited the site, they stayed for an average of sixteen minutes and looked at 14 pages. Since this is an average, keep in mind that 17% of all visits lasted more than 30 minutes! Although at the same time, 31% of all visits last less than 10 seconds!

By the way, Firefox is getting very close to overtaking Internet Explorer on YWS. I would not be surprised if more YWS members use FF than IE by 2010.

The international situation is changing too! In the past, there's always been small towns in the top 10 cities, but now it's pretty much big national cities such as London and New York. Here's the top 10:
    London
    New York
    Sydney
    Toronto
    Auckland
    Seattle
    Denver
    Manchester
    Adeliade
    Glasgow

Notice that only three cities in the top 10 are in the United States now; it used to be majority US. London remains at top, and Sydney is sinking! For the old-timers, you'll remember back when Sydney was number one. The big surprise, though, is the emergence of Toronto, which marks the first time a Canadian city has broken the top 10.

And to round it all up, the top 10 countries:

    United States
    United Kingdom
    Canada
    Australia
    New Zealand
    Finland
    India
    Phillipines
    Singapore
    Germany

New Zealand is the fifth most active?
Surprising, with our small population. (4 mill) ^_^
Though our big brother over the ditch (Aussie) are more so.
I'll have to work harder. *nodnod*

YWS Toronto for the win! :D

Actually, to be fair, the Glasgow is the third biggest city in the UK (in terms of population). So it's not that surprising.

Manchester is in North-west England, a pretty big urban conurbation :)

Famous things from Manchester include the Industrial Revolution, Manchester United (unfortunately), the world's first computer, atomic theory, the splitting of the atom, and other cool things.
