I've got this idea to write a script, but I need some help. I've never written scripts before, but I have an idea how to write it.

Is there any advice anyone can give me for script writing? Like format, etc,? I hope I made this question clear enough.

I think this looks good. There's also one for Open Office, but I can't remember where I downloaded it.
There once was a cat.
He wasn’t particularly fat.
Fuzzy was his favorite mat.
And really, that was that.

Oh, but did you really think so?
Keep reading, it’s just the start of the show!
And as for how far this tale will go…
Well, even the cat doesn’t know.

Dialogue is huge, naturally. Really focus on that. Disregard any and all thoughts of "talking heads". It's a script. We don't care about that.

As for action, cut back on things. The key is to be brief, saying just what is necessary to get the point across of what is going on.

Also, Script Frenzy - a variation on NaNoWriMo that occurs in April - is a great resource for script writing stuff, including format. Definitely check out the website.

Also, I love Celtx for scriptwriting. It's just so simple to use and only takes just a little bit to get used to all of the keyboard short cuts.

Also, there are a few posts in writing tips about script writing. :D
