I never ever stick to mine...still:

- Crit more! Where have I been lately and why do I still owe Jared a critique? I must just get on with it.

- Revise earlier. Yeah, late night revision the night before the exam is really not good.

- Let myself get involved again. See what happens....

- Write.

-Be a nicer, happier person.

Well, let's see...

1) Stick to the writing schedule I made.

2) Get 5 yellow stars before posting Betrayed and Plagued on YWS.

3) READ MORE! I haven't read a lot recently.

4) Get better grades. I've missed a lot of homework assignments recently.

I'll most likely fail at this.

I tend not to achieve all of my New Year's resolutions, which is why I make as many as possible, so that there's a greater chance that I'll achieve at least one of them:

1) Improve my attitude towards work, particularly homework.
2) Keep my room reasonably tidy.
3) Improve my confidence, be more social, be more outgoing and stop stuttering so much!
4) Make a better attempt at not getting in my foul moods.
5) Improve my hygiene (not that I'm filthy, but that's middle class Britain for you)
6) Carry on being charitable-be more charitable, if possible.
7) Try to finish at least one story!
8 ) 2008 reviews!
9) Put on some weight-I don't know if it's a high metabolic rate or worms, but no matter how much I eat I'm so skinny you can see my ribs.
10) Write in my diary more often.
11) Improve my relationship with my brother.
12) Stop sniffing so much, blow my nose more often.
13) Take driving lessons/test.
14) Do some more exercise.
15) Try to be more sensible with my money (but not stingey-those homeless people need it more than I do, even if they do just spend it on drugs).
16) Be a bit more fashionable-not conforming to silly social rules is good, but I'm not going to make much of a difference if everyone thinks I'm a tramp. Again, that's middle class Britain for you.
17) Do my best.

There, seventeen resolutions. Now I just need to see how many of them I can achieve.
I refuse to acknowledge the existence of this signature.

(I'm always really good at them the first week, and then I fail)
*Stop procrastinating. I should be doing homework right now.
*Rock the A-levels. This would especially cool, since I'm American and so will have, like, zip preparation.
*Rock the ACTs (again) and SATs. Less impressive but still cool.
*Stop pushing away the people I love.
*Read more (easy, since I just got the newest Gregory Maguire :))

In no particular order:

1. Reorganize my bookshelf (been meaning to for quite a while)
2. Get my Silver Award
3. Learn to like Biology
4. Have a better relationship with my mom
5. Finish my current manga series
6. Learn at least five pieces in my Andres Segovia music book

Also, I want to be a better person. I just think if I set goals more like these, they'll be easier to accomplish. Hopefully they'll get done, and at the end of 2009 I won't feel like a failure. ;)

1) Get all A's in school (not likely with my teachers)
2) Finish and finish editing the novel I'm working on by my birthday (March 1)
3) Go to the gym more
4) Get more of my friends to do NaNoWriMo with me

That's all I have for now, I guess...

Hmmm...well, this is hard for me. I mean, to set goals. I guess what I want for the new year would be:

1.) Change who I am
2.) Be more active on YWS
3.) Get better grades in school

Shhhh... don't tell us that!

Actually, I think you're right, which is why mine consists of more of a to-do list for the year. Things I *have* to do, and a couple things I'd really *like* to do this year, but nothing outstanding or traditional, like lose/gain ten pounds or start living healthier or any such thing. Mine's just to keep me on track. ^_^ Setting goals for the year isn't so bad if you actually make an effort to keep them and if you're serious about it. Heck, if I can write a novel in a month with midterms and finals for all my classes going on, why not a year where I get three months off for summer? And I want to do it anyway, so this year is the year I've designated for myself to just sit down and do it.

I don't think I'll have a huge list, because I am really good at procrastinating, and not that good at pulling through. And, I honestly doubt this will be the year when I completely change that.

I think I'll go for consistency again in 09.

Goals to be consistent in:

1) Keep writing an entry a day in my journal, even if I feel like some of them are inane. Speaking to those who are trying for it, there's a LiveJournal community called Embodiment that is based on this, but they only have membership open in December. But, if you tack it onto your nightly routine, or any other thing you can tag it onto, you'll do better at the consistency. I think Christmas day was the only day I really completely forgot about it this year.

2) Actually keep track of the books that I read, even if just means a scribbled list at the back of my journal or something. Of course, what I really want to do is to create a spreadsheet to keep track of it all. Of course, that might have to wait until my laptop is finally fixed. *kicks both McAffrey and Windows updates*

3) Keep writing consistently, and to also get my goal for Wriye 09, which is almost like Nano all year long. Search for Wriye 09 to find out more.

4) Finish at least my 07 and 08 Nanos, and finish 07 in time to get it printed by the free offer. Still not sure about 08, cause I think I might try to get it published, but 07 won't be published for a while.

5) Keep active here on YWS, and TWS when it finally gets back up and is all shiny. School keeps killing my brain cells, so I never do anything on here when school is in session, but hopefully I'll do better this time. Reviewing is fun.

6) Can't forget the Office of Letters and Light! I want to participate in both Screnzy 09 and Nanowrimo 09! Someday I'll have to see if I can convince my Screnzy characters to be in books, that would be fun. Maybe after their story is a trilogy...

And, I think that's it. My list for the year, with more stuff added in as I think of it over the year.

Good luck, everyone!! And, also, the forums for the Year of Doing Big, Fun, Scary Things Together is finally up over at Nanowrimo.org. Of course, prompting only happens when you visit the sites consistently...

Oooh, I want to do that. Especially since I didn't do NaNoWriMo this year.

I always epic-fail these things. But it does feel good to write them down.

. . .

1. Finish a draft of Mercy Street.
2. Practice piano at least four hours per day, no exceptions.
3. Claw my way back to that 4.0 GPA.
4. Write some decent reviews for you lovely people.
5. Achieve fluency in Italian and make some substantial headway in each Russian and Croatian.
6. Exercise thrice a week.
7. Find more time to read.
8. Find a better balance between the majors (mathematics was wholly neglected last time around).

. . .

Also, I really do want to get to Europe (and back to New York, for that matter) during 2010, but that may be more long-shot than resolution...

EDIT: 9. Get together with Imp at some point while she's still in the East. ^^

1) Get in the top 5 in my form.
2) Study between classes.
3) Finish every single piece of homework the day it's given.
4) Do the prefect homeroom reports every day.
5) Do the Prefect Board Member reports every week, no slack.
6) Crit every piece I open.
7) Vaccuum my room at least once every 5 weeks.
8 ) Improve writing.
9) Get the Scout badges. Or at least, pass the tests for them.
10) Use only $1.00 a day at maximum, except for school fees and the like.

Half of these are possible. The other half, I'm not sure. Like 1, 4, 5, 7, and 8. Hope for the best, though...
