I was coming home from school today, thinking, "Finally, friday." I walked inside. My dad was home, and he asked about my day as I got my ice cream that I have every day. Go ahead, nag about my health. Then he says this:

"Oh, you got a letter from Devozine. Did you order something?"

I jumped a bit. I glanced at the table and picked it up. I opened the letter and read it.

"Dear [my name],

We are pleased to inform you that your meditation has been chosen to appear in the MJ[that's magazine talk for "May-June] 2009 issue of Devozine, The Upper Room's devotional magazine for youth."

I thrust the letter into my dad's hands, then jumped around the kitchen.

I'M PUBLISHED! OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111one

Suddenly, I see why people get so excited about this...

OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got off the phone with my siblings in college. I came up with my goal:

Publish at least two more articles with them.

There's a girl in my youth group - well, technically, she's an alumni, because she's a college seinor and my sister's best friend - who got two articles published. I must beat her. Mwahaha.

Here's the devozine website

Oh, you found it. Well, now other people will find it.

I just called my grandparents to tell them about this. Now mom's telling everybody at church. Dad's going to brag about me at work, and I'm going to tell my friends at school.

My mom is saying that I should set aside a binder for my writing career. I'm saving the acceptence letter, and I also will save the magazine when I get it.

Everybody I've told wants copies of it. I'll have to rob my youth group supply for them. I'm already getting a coplimentary copy, but I need to frame that.

Oh, and I'm getting $25, which is pretty darn good, given that the article was really short.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this...it's a daily devotional magazine. That means a person will use my article for an entire day! This is awesome!

I came into this world wrinkled and ugly. And no matter how much I accumulate here, it's a short journey. I will go out of this world wrinkled and ugly. So I enjoy life.

I just got a PM, and I didn't tell you guys about the article!

Well, the magazine is full of daily devotions. I wrote one day's devotion.

Warning: Christian content below

The theme is "refresh", and I talked about how it would be nice to have the little browser buttons like "refresh", "back", and "forward" in real life. Then I pointed out that God is always willing to "refresh" our relationship with Him and forgive out sins.
