That bar won't disappear until you actually click on the poetry tab and you are in the poetry section. It's a static bar whose options only change depending upon the section you're in.
Anyhow, everyone should keep in mind that this is a mock-up and as such, you need some imagination. The final thing is not going to look like the above in terms of graphics and colors, but the general layout will look similar. In fact, I'm not even sure if I can do some of the stuff I included in the mock-up and I may have to tone down my ambitions.
As mentioned, the new YWS will be unveiled sometime in early 2009. At that time, users will have the opportunity to go on the new site and fool around.
It is also good to see so much positive feedback on this. Believe it or not, but when YWS first switched to the current portal format back in February 2005, about 40% of the site hated it. But within two weeks, everyone liked it better. I'm changing it now because I feel like YWS has hit a dead end with the current design, and if we're going to continue to be a viable resource, we need drastic changes.
