This week, on Monday morning, Bob Hunter, died of prostate cancer at the age of sixty-three. He was called the original eco warrior, and was an inspiration to all those who met him. One of his most famous actions was to stand in front of a boat that was hunting arctic seals, and destroying the ice they use when above water. Author of thirteen books, he also made a significant contribution to Canadian television as the ecology specialist on City Pulse, the host of his own show, Hunter's Gatherings, and as a comentator of headlines in the four major newspapers in Toronto on Breakfast Television. The ultimate irony was that when he was diagnosed with cancer, after years of protesting all things nuclear, it was radiation therapy that allowed him to live as long as he did. He will be sorely missed by all environmental activists, and the people of Canada.
Please, sit down before you fall down.
