The first songs I learned on guitar were "Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones and "What I Like About You" by the Romantics--those were pretty easy. The Beatles usually have some good stuff for beginners, or most punk songs are pretty easy to learn, seeing as they're just power chords. What types of music are you interested in playing? What are some of your favorite bands?
i thought you were shallow, but then i fell in deep.

"Boulevard of Broken Dreams" - Green Day

The easiest song I've ever played. Just ask Chevy/Morgan too.

'La Bamba' was the first song I learned. 'Wipe out' is great practice....hmmm, what type of music do you like and I'll suggest some

weeellll....i like loadsa stuff....

i like muse a LOT but ive got a load of their tabs & some of them
are a bit tricky... i can play newborn though cause you mostly
only have to play one or two notes at one time!

im learning (or trying to) a lene marlin song - unforgivable sinner,
which is alright cept im not fast enough yet...

i can do the first few notes of 'stairway to heaven' its recognisable
at least...

tbh i dont mind too much what they are as long as they're things
that i know and are good for beginners... ive got a couple of tabs
off the net but im startin to run out of ideas...

oh if anyone has the tabs for 'dream on' by aerosmith... that would
be good...

thank you loads

I know nothing about guitars, except that they have six strings and you play it by strumming said strings. I'd like to learn and have a guitar but no clue where to start. Are there any websites for something like that?

"Come as you Are', by Nirvana. If you do try this one, it might be best if you don't do the 'memoria', or 'I swear I don't have a gun' parts. Just the beggining is great practice, and it keeps repeating, so it's nice.

Also, if there's a song you like, but the tabs are too tricky, just tell me and I'll convert them to an easier version, if you'd like. Good luck!

www.guitartabs.cc
www.mxtabs.net
www.ultimate-guitar.com

All these sites have tons of tabs for all kinds of music. The first song I ever learned to play was "Stay" by Lisa Loeb, which is easy. As is "You Were Meant For Me" by Jewel and "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman. "Hazy Shade of Winter" is easy, too, and a lot of fun to play!

Basically, what others have said, punk is easy to play, too.
Lend your voices only to sounds of freedom
No longer lend your strength to that which you wish to be free from
Fill your lives with love and bravery
And you shall lead a life uncommon

... that's because it's freakin' GREENDAY, man. Most of their songs (especially the old ones) are the same power chord formula over and over again.

Easier Greenday songs would be their earlier songs.

I can't remember the first song I learned to play. Oh, yeah, it was AC/DC's "Back in Black". I'm not into them anymore, though,

Lol, the first song I ever learned on Guitar was Getting Into You by Relient K. It's really easy, and I even corrected the guitar tabs by listening to the song and playing along.

YAY! Elvis!

Some of the "The Killers" beats are pretty easy. You might find them at the sites that people posted above.

But the first real song that I ever played was Yankee Doodle, when I was about 7 or so. Hehehe, good times, good times. Thats the best song ever.
