Hey there! I’m curious to know if you guys have a certain way of approaching your stories or your poetry. Even if you don’t have a real structure, feel free to talk about it here! Who knows if someone has an idea you’d like to try? Thanks!

Hiya! I don't really have much of an organized approach, to be honest. Usually, whenever I'm hit with a random bout of story ideas and inspiration, I usually immediately write down the chapter that I have in my head. It's usually pretty messy, so once I get it written down I edit and organize, turning the idea into an actual literary piece. As I said, it's not much of a structure, but it works. XD
I'm not really sure what "inspires me" exactly. I usually just wake up with an itch to write, or I'll come across a story idea while cleaning or reading. Then I work on it awhile in my head before I write it down.
Sometimes reading helps, sometimes listening to music.
What's more important to me is what I genuinely feel/the message I want to tell, which I convey through the interactions between characters and/or the world around them. That's why sweating every detail in a character's bio for days is second thought to me. I characterize them as needed only to rationalize the decisions they make and sew up any inconsistencies in the way they act, but not to make unique characters. Doing that would divert the readers' attention away. My priority is less in making memorable characters, but more in making memorable events.
I don't know, maybe I've just moved on from that phase of building stories from the ground up with simple character/story gimmicks. It rarely works out because I force myself into making a story I'm not interested in. I think I just pick what lingering feelings I want to write about and from then on I find ways to make it crazier.
Going out for a good long walk often inspires me. Music is also a big inspiration. As much as I love reading I consider most my major inspirations to be musicians... But I suppose songwriting is music too.
I'm not sure if this exactly answers the topic. Love inspires all my writing. Whether it be my love for someone, something, or my dog I use either lessons I've learned from love or my experiences with love to create my writing.
For me, there's so many things that inspire me. Different photos, music, sceneries, quotes, bizzare dreams and life-experiences make me just want to write and write. There's a lot of people that inspire me too though. My friends, family, and English teachers, are always inspiring me to continue my writing on a personal level. Some of my favourite authors inspire me on a fan-based level, whether it's from what they've directly said to me, what they've posted on their websites, or just their own life stories of how they became who they are today.
