Songs that stir your emotions.

Post 'em!

For instance, this song made me cry the first time I listened to it.

...m-manly tears, of course.

Well, I believe you

This song! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGKRXhmFQlw

Not only does it have emotional meaning to me, but it's also SO sad!

"Hurt" - Johnny Cash
It's a cover of the original by Trent Reznor, recorded just a few weeks before his death. Reznor usually dislikes covers of his songs (he wouldn't even let Glee do one), and when he first heard it, he said it was invasive, like someone "kissing his girlfriend." After he saw the video accompanying it, he said "it's not my song anymore," because Cash had brought a whole new meaning to the music.

"Why" - Rascal Flats
Not only do I love this song, It is very personal for me.

"Christmas Shoes" by NewSong. Only song on the planet that has ever brought tears to my eyes.

"The Great Pretender", the cover by Sam Cooke. Of course, I probably feel emotional when listening to this song because I am, generally, a "Great Pretender" myself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyIo1M-Sp1g
Also, this classic Queen song; "Too Much Love will Kill you", which makes me especially sad when I relate it to my disabled father: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t42DXVvHTxs
and (this is only piano so skip it if it isn't your thing) finally this heartbreaker piece of music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTkzyyv0DuA
You might need some tissues handy before you listen to those depressing tunes!

The country band Rascal Flatts hit me with this one Won't Let Go. The very first time I heard it was the day of my grandmother's funeral and I found it appropriate for the situation, since my family is so close-knit.

There was a singer by the name of Keith Whitley who passed away at age 34 from alcohol poisoning in 1989, but not before writing and recording this song for his wife, Lorrie Morgan. The story the song tells is one that will bring any country fan to tears, the story of eternal love even after death. It's called Tell Lorrie I Love Her.

And finally, the late great John Denver. I don't know what it is about this man's voice that often brings me to tears. The clear purity, the honesty, the voice of a man that not only sings his songs, but knows exactly what it feels like to be hurt. He was also a Gone Too Soon star. These songs are Sunshine On My Shoulders, Annie's Song, and Leaving On A Jet Plane

No music can move me in the way classical music does. I cried many times while listening to the Moonlight Sonata, Für Elise, Mozart's piano Sonatas (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iw7u6_o-js), Tchaikovsky's Valse Sentimentale (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUuusqy5 ... re=related) and Albinoni's famous Adagio. There are some movies soundtracks I love very much, I think Journey to the Past from Anastasia and Think of Me from Phantom of the Opera pull some tears from me whenever I hum them, they also bear some kind of message for me, so perhaps that's why.

Once I cried by hearing the song form the film veerzara and the song was "Do pal Ka"

Skinny Love by Bon Iver.

You're The Inspiration by Chicago. Nuff said

I've had to have listened to this at least a thousand times and still feel moved by it.

This one always evokes really vivid and eery images in my head. I'm not sure how it makes me feel...except a mixture of melancholy and inspired.
