Poetry Event: Dead Poets Society (Aug. 23rd)

What is the Dead Poets Society? How do you not know?! I suggest you take a look here and watch the movie. Now. So many good things about it. Basically, the Dead Poets Society is when a bunch of people, usually friends, get together to read poems. Preferably poems written by a dead author, hence the Dead Poets Society, but poems from alive authors won't be frowned upon. Generally the idea is to share the love of poetry, enlighten those around you of the poetic skills of the poet you have picked, and to hopefully encourage you to write a poem yourself. Is there a reason why you chose this movie? Actually... yes. It's been on my mind ever since our beloved Robin Williams passed away. This is, honestly, one of his best roles ever. Which is why I highly encourage you watch the movie. Not only is it amazing, but it's also full of amazing poetry advice and quotes. This event is a way to pay tribute to Robin and the amazing mark he left on the world. It's also a good idea for a poetry event, to get those of us who love poetry together, to bond and mourn and share and grow together. What exactly will happen? You post a reply and express interest! This event will happen on 8/23/2014 19:00 GMT . I will then PM you the day before with a reminder, then PM you with a link to a wfp the day of. - Yes, you will be reading your poem aloud! How so, you ask? By using Vocaroo ! A quick and easy voice recorder, it will allow you plenty of redos before you finally say the poem right - Like I said, poems by a dead poet is preferred but we can share some poems from currently alive poets as well - If all goes well, we will transition into a poetry jam, where we chat and continue to share poems (with or without recording) and/or make our own poems! This event is a good way to get your creative juices flowing and get those poetry-typing fingers all wired up! - Yes, if you want, you can come and chat and listen. You don't HAVE to read your poem aloud, although I highly recommend you do. That's how you do it in the DPS! - If you can't make it, no biggie. I only work until 5 on Saturday, so depending on how long you think it might go I could get on when I get home. (Leaving work early is a goal for that day, but we'll see because it definitely did not happen yesterday.)

@biscuitsbatchavoy, I might consider a second event that day, but it depends on the people. Right now, it seems only you and two or three others can't make it
