Hullo folks,

Mandolin here.

My sister mentioned this site to me
and curiosity has always made a happy fool out of me.
I'm not going to name her,
for she might prefer anonymity;
this is a pretty change for me,
I got her hooked on TYWC.
I'm hoping to encounter old friends,
old competition,
and the favorite good ol'nemesis.

I'll keep it short.

I'll originally be commenting more than posting my own junk,
and trying to put as much thought into your writing as possible.
Just know I will give my honest opinion,
do my best not to be biased,
and after all it's only a cheap commodity.

And thanks to everyone who keeps the site active.

-M.

Hey Mandolin ^^ Welcome to YWS! You're lucky, you came during my karaoke hour!

(song: Part of Your World Little Mermaid)

Look at this site? Isn't it neat?
YWS is a place that can never be beat!
Wouldn't you think we're a site,
A site that has, everything?

Look at the forums, full of great stuff.
How many wonders can one website hold?
Looking around here you'd think:
Yes, they're amazing!

We've got instructors and greeters a-plenty!
We've got mods and a Nate galore.
You want a review? June's done many!
But who cares? No big deal. We'll do more!

We wanna help everyone that comes around,
we wanna see, wanna see them writing!
Writing on papers with those
Whaddya cal em'? Oh, pens.

Typing away you don't get too far,
Mentors are required for self-improvement.
Painting those pictures on,
What's that word again? Canvases.

Up where they write, up where they post,
Up where they talk all day in the chat-room.
Wandering free, wish you could be
Part of this site!
You cannot dream yourself into a character; you must hammer and forge yourself into one.

The writer, when he is also an artist, is someone who admits what others don't dare reveal.

Hiya and welcome!

YWS is a pretty active place. ^^ Some of the rules that keep it that way are:

~ Review two works before posting any of your own. A "Review" being at least three lines long. People are often willing to return the favour. It's asked you always keep that 2:1 rule.

~ Keep chatspeak to a minimum. "Lol" is okay, as are other term abbreviations. But I think you'll be fine here. :D

~ Rated works are what we like to see! If you rate your work, and it's not rated R, you'll show up on the home page of YWS. Rated R works have the f-word or graphic content.

Haha. I find there's a sort-of justic in you getting your sister hooked onto TYWC and now she's told you about YWS. :D Nice to see you here though!

It would seem you like poetry. I'm impressed at your ability to create a very smooth poem with introduction information. It's just... epic.

What's your favourite:
Author
Book
Genre (read+ write)

If you need anything, PM me! I'd love to help you with any questions. ^^

Hi, Mandolin!

:D Your intro has got to be one of the most unique I've heard so far, I love it! Everyone around here is über gracious and helpful and fun, so ask anybody if you need something, and they'll give you a helping hand, I promise. So it looks like you've got entertainment from Shina, a sister, and the rules from Rosey, so I guess all I can be is a friend if you need one. :D PM me if you need anything or want to talk! -Roo

Hey M. (: Rosey got most everything, but I'll tell you about our YWS rainbow. (;

Blue: Greeters. They welcome newbies to the site. (:

Purple: Instructors. They give the very best reviews. (: Beware of the Purps Vs Bules battle though! (;

Green(s): Moderators and junior moderators. They help keep the site up and running.

Red: Administrators. Well, just what it says. (;

Orange: Distinguised Members. The ones who gave up there titles because they can't post as often.

Also NO CAPS PLEASE. (: It's kind of distracting.

I hope to see you around and posting. PM me if you have a question or if you just want to chat. (:

Hey Mandolin, welcome to YWS! :D

Wow angels...that was pretty awesome :)

Anyway...everyone's already mentioned everything important so I'm just going to skip right to the really hard questions. Are you ready?
What's your favorite genre to read/write? Who's your favorite author? If you could see one band/singer in concert and hang out with them for an hour afterwords who would you see? What's your favorite kind of berry? If you were a piece of furniture, what kind would be and why?

I hope you have a great time here and if you have any questions or need anything, feel free to PM me! :D

Oh good lord, I completely forgot about this thread already; and you're right, Rosey, it escaped my mind because I'm been lost reading everyone's work.
Sorry for the delay.

Shina: That made me laugh, I sang it to myself. not very well, I must admit.
Sista Nuuk: I'm proud too, look at my favorite authors list!
Rosey: I like you, you've asked me one of my most favorite and 'love-to-despise' questions. I'm terrible at picking favorites because there are so many authors I am addicted to, and please don't even get me started on the actual books.

Authors: My sister, Geoffrey Chaucer, Sir Phillip Sidney, T.H. White, C.S.Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Francine Rivers, Howard Fast, Wilson Rawls, John Connolly, Terry Pratchett, Jonathon Stroud, Garth Nix, Diana Wynn Jones, Steven Brust, Robert E. Howard, Roald Dahl, AVI, Pablo Neruda, Elizabeth Elliot, Stephen R. Lawhead, and so on and so on and so on.

Roo: Glad to be friends.
WT: Thanks for the heads up.

Carly: A minimum list of authors located upstairs.

Question One: I like to read everything from philosophy to satire, but my favorite is when a story pulls off both. I'm addicted to metaphor.
Question Three: Joanna Newsom or Porcupine Tree
Question Four: A tomato. Just cause I can.
Question Five: A bed or a stair, of course! I'd love to go squeek in the night.

-M.

I'll check out everyone's portfolios in the next few days here.
