Hi everyone, I'm brand new. :) I'll probably be posting a lot of my poetry here, as I submit a lot of my short stories to competitions and you tend not to be able to publish them anywhere else if you want to enter, haha! My works tends to feature a lot of social commentary, although I do write a lot of reflective/inner-monologue as well.

I love reading so I'll be sure to stick to the '2 reviews for one piece of writing' rule. Can't wait to see what you all think about my own work!

Hi, Shinigamizm! (Wow, can I call you anything for short?) I'm Music. Welcome to our fun and insane place known as YWS!

I'm so glad to see that you are using proper grammar, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling. No chat-speak is a basic rule here at YWS.

Also, you know about our 2:1 ratio. Wonderful. Please follow it. Haha.

So, since you know the rules I was going to explain, I'll welcome you! Into poetry, huh? I've written a couple, but novels are more my style. PM me with any questions, or just to talk (I love talking). I'd like to get to know you!

Bye!
Click-ity click! Reviews here. :)

Hehe, Shini would be fine! :D I'm a big fan of grammar so you don't have to worry about that! I'd love to know what sort of things you write - I've written one novel (self-published) and am working on my second, so I also enjoy longer fiction, but I upload that to my own website usually. :)

Welcome Shini! Awesome nickname.

Big fan of grammar? Join the club! We have some serious grammar freaks on YWS, myself included, so you'll fit right in!

And you already know about the 2:1 ratio, which is our most important rule.

Poetry? Awesome! We've got some amazing poets on the site that I'm sure can help you improve your poetry. In fact, this may seem a little confusing, but:

You've come during a kind of crazy time. See how my name is in purple? That means I'm an Instructor. Instructors offer some of the most helpful critiques, and you can always count on those purple people to review your work to the very best of their ability.

All those people with blue names are Greeters. Normally they're the ones to greet new members such as yourself, but this week's kind of crazy-- we're switching places. So normally I would be out there reviewing your poetry and stuff, and the Blues/Greeters would be here welcoming you, but not this week.

The green people are Mods (the big, important people) and the reds are the very top of the food chain!

What do you like to read? What kind of genres?

Hello, Shini!

Wow. You've self-published a novel? Like now it's a book you can hold in your hands? Wow. That's really cool. You seem like a person who gets things done. (A.k.a. anti-procrastinator!)

Where did you get your insane username? :D It's very interesting, I just can't stop staring at it! Haha.

What kind of poetry/stories do you write? I do poetry, too, but unfortunately I don't get good ideas for stories very often, so I haven't written them for a while.

You have two reviews already! Way to go! You also have your own website, which is awesome. :D Haha. I'll soon be your fan if you won't be careful.

Well, enjoy the site, will you? And it would be nice to know more about you, so tell us anything! If you have any questions or want to chat, just PM me. :)

See you around!

Heyy there Shini (cool name by the way)!! (:
I see you're from England *high fives*, I am too (:

Music seems to have covered the rules, so why don't I tell you all about our colourfulness here? As you may have noticed, some people have different coloured names, so I shall tell you more about them :D :
Instructors - we're dressed in purple (the best colour ), and we all specialise in long and detailed critiques, so if you're in need of one, come to us!! Also, alot of us (and other members too) have our own thread in which we invite people to request stuff for us to review (:
Greeters - they're the blue'ns. They're in charge of greeting newbies like yourself and making sure you all fit into the site comfortably; they're the people to go to for advice, or you can always ask me =P
Moderators & Jr. Moderators - in dark green and light green they make sure all this YWS fabulousness is kept under control!
Administrators & Jr. Admins - in red; they're in charge of the innermost workings of the site.
Distinguished members/retired moderators - they're in orange, and the highly experienced people :D

Anyway, enough YWS background

Wow, you've posted a novel? There's a special group for people like you to join who've both completed and published a novel, as well as many other fun groups for you to join - you can check them all out by clicking the 'Groups' link up top.
Anyway, what was your novel about, and what did you say you're working on at the moment? You have your own website too? Wow, you should put the link into your signature (which can be changed using the My YWS link at the top), so we can check it out =D

You're a poetry person, eh? I, myself, avoid poetry like the plague, but I'm in total awe of anyone who can write it (:

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your time here, and PM me if you have any questions or just want to talk :D .
--Lucyy xx

**Edit: I really do take too long to post greetings, when I started writing this I was only the second person to reply, but now I'm the fourth =P . As Evi said, we're swapping roles with the Greeters, which explains my inexperience hehe =P

Thank you, Evi, for the heads-up on the coloured names, I was wondering about that!
I like to read fantasy mostly, any of Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels. Dark humour and satire are also favourites of mine...in all honesty I'll give anything a try apart from chick lit. Just not my kinda thing. :(

Demeter;
Yep, it was published when I was 16. :D One copy's with a friend in the USA, but I have two copies on my shelf that I give to people to read/pretend to read, haha! It's amazing. I am a bit of a procrastinator (especially with coursework..eeek) but I'm determined, so I always finish what I start. Eventually.

Haha, my username! Well I've always used Shinigami as my online alias - it's Japanese for God of death, used in various anime...but I always found that it was taken when I signed up to sites. Miyavi is a musician I like, and he has an album called Miyavizm, so I just started putting 'zm' on the end so that the username would be free. Not as creative as it looks but I like it!

I write a lot of social commentary in my poetry, it tends to be a lot more personal than my fiction...my stories tend to be a lot more plot-driven and character-based. My most recent story was about a painter who was tired of painting beautiful portraits, and it was about he tried to find beauty in other things...I like writing about people, I guess. :) How about yourself? Yes I'd love to PM you sometime and chat, I'd like to get to know a few people on here so it doesn't seem as scary!

And yes, my website! Rarely updated but always in my heart, haha! There's a lot of writing on here which I'm sure will get posted on here eventually.

We're the friendliest people imaginable. Pshh. We're so not scary. YWSers rock. PM anyone on the site and they'd love to get to know you and be your friend.

I've read Discworld! Well, one of them. It was good. And chick lit isn't my thing either. I take it then that you don't like Twilight? Well, join the war: we have twilight-obsessives and hardcore-anti-twilights on here. It's insane how much controvery it's caused!

The name! Wow, that's so original! My name is three letters, and I came up with it a couple of years ago with a character I was writing about. Then I went ahead and killed off that character, but I got so depressed that now I use her name on my websites!

Hehe.

I'm impressed! A novel? Most of us only dream of finishing a novel. Have you heard of NaNoWriMo?

Evi is right, YWSers do rock. Hehe.
*sigh* Another to join in the ever-warring Twilight: For or Against war. I'm on the for side. Don't hate me. Haha. I'm tired of trying to defend it, even though I'm obsessed. Let the anti-twilight people think what they will.
Anyway, the link to "Broken Sky" is your website, I presume?

Haha, great! Myself, I don't really have any specific themes in my poetry/other works, I usually just get an image or a cool simile in my head and then build the poem around it. It often happens when I'm just about to go to sleep; then I just have to get up and fetch a notebook to write the image in! :D

Your story about the painter sounds very much something I'd like to read. (Nudge, nudge.) ;)

I've actually heard of Miyavi, which is somewhat a miracle since I don't know anything about that genre of music, but one of my friends really like him, so I've heard the name pop out every now and then. :)

Yay, I'll see you then! :)

Evi;
Discworld is a lot of work because there are so many novels in the series, but definitely worth it. :) I read Twilight and thought the quality of Meyer's writing was poor, I'm a big vampire fan and it just wasn't good enough for me. :( But I'm well aware of how worked up people get about it haha!! So I try to stay out of Twilight discussions.

Hehe, so you keep her alive by using the name? That's awesome!

Ahh yes, I considered participating in NaNoWriMo, but I don't work well under pressure! Give me a deadline and I...wilt.

I won't hate you for it, I don't see the point in arguing over opinions. :)
Yes, that's my personal site! I don't update it much but there's a lot of poetry/links to fiction, etc. so I suppose it's my portfolio.

I finished The Hogfather last week!! I've read all the ones up to there. Which one's your favourite? I think Soul Music is probably mine, although I've loved them all so far.

And yes I did, when I was 16. :) The plan is to do the same with my next novel, but I've been working on that for four years and...it still ain't finished. Any day now!

I don't read them in order, I just take what comes to hand.

My favorite was the color of magic.... or then it was Jingo (I can't decide.) :D
