Hello all, I found this site through the Writers' Society website. I have written off and on for years but work and school keep getting in the way. So, I thought maybe joining some forums might help me get started writing again. I write some fantasy, some sci fi, and historical fiction. This seems like a really active forum, which is awesome! Can't wait to meet everybody! Also I'm doing Nanowrimo for the first time this year, can't wait for November!

Hello and good morning to you too! :D

Welcome to YWS! You're right in this is an active forum— people leave for a few days to have a thousand or so posts when they get back! It's wonderful. ^^ (Although people tend to only cherry pick when they have that many posts to read. :P)

Fantasy and historical are probably my favourite genres. Historical is what got me reading, and fantasy is what got me writing, lol Any favourite books/authors? I really like Tamora Pierce on the author front, I Am Apache on the book front.

Hope to see you around! Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions. :D

Hi there!

My favourite three genres and you have my name, are you sure you're not me in disguise? ;) It's a pleasure to meet you and I hope the site's to your liking, I'm sure I'll see you around. Send me a pm if you ever need a helping hand or would like a review (or even just to chatter ^^),

Welcome! Sounds like we have a lot in common. We both get distracted from our writing and joined YWS to help us keep focused. I have to say that all the users here are very helpful and encouraging. I'm not nearly as active as most of the other people but I still find some time to get on and read stuff and post some of my own. :smt024

Hey all! Haha yeah it is overwhelming to see all the forums! But it looks like fun.
Rosey - Same here, my favorite genre used to be historical fiction. Now I've expanded and read pretty much anything - sometimes I'll curl up with ice cream and "Pretty Little Liars", but at the moment I'm reading "Catcher in the Rye", "The Island of Dr. Moreau", and "Artemis Fowl". Lol, three books, and I wonder why I never have any time????? I'll have to check out those books!
Kitty15 - Ahhhhh! It's my doppelganger! lol!!!!!! A pleasure to meet you too, although I hope we shall not have to duel over identity :D lol!
Squirrely - Ah yes, I'd probably spend much more time online in a perfect world, but darn school and jobs! Hopefully I will get motivated though.
Has anyone been published yet? I have this crazy dream of quitting my job and making a living off writing, is that realistic or no? :)
*Sigh* off to get a few hours of sleep!

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities.
