[pre]Hey everyone, I joined here hoping for some inspiration and maybe making some connections with other writers to spur me on. I'm a new writer, but I love to write and make people think. Inspirationals, or just me expressing myself is what I do best but I'm getting ready to write a monologue for my drama class I'm assisting. If anyone has any tips on where they get their inspirations, any advice, or whatever I'm all ears. [/pre]
Well, I'm not so great with the whole inspiration thing but if you are stuck then take a sentence you heard someone say that day and try and write a piece about it or involving it. Even if it's rubbish at least you're writing and it gets the juices flowing!

How about telling us a little about your work to get the ball rolling? A little *push* is always nice, so...I like writing poetry and realistic fiction. I have been writing since I could hold a pencil incorrectly, and I have loved it ever since.
You've definitely come to the right place. I've gotten some of my best ideas from suggestions made by other members, and met a lot of really great, interesting people too. This place is the shiz.

[pre]Thank you all for this very warm welcome! Well here's a little bit about myself.
I haven't been writing very long or written a ton of work. I wanted to write a short story that gave a little taste of my childhood for a story forum that was a part of this doll site back when I was 14. I wrote the story and sent it to my brother who was a journalist in the AF to ask for his critiquing. Well he sent it around his office and one of his superior officers wrote me back saying she loved it and I had a lot of potential. Also my English teacher loved me lol. So these are basically things that encouraged me to write.
As far as what I write, there's nothing I won't try. I catch onto writing styles and go from there. About a month ago I went to a poetry reading on an open mic night and wrote a poem on the spot when I've only ever written one poem in my life. They loved it and want me to come back. I've written a few -hopefully inspiring- pieces and plan on making my monologue something about living life to it's fullest. A few short stories, a poem or two, a couple essays. That's what I've written. I'll post one soon if you're interested but I'm not so much into my older pieces, I'm trying to write new ones (as I'm sure everyone is).[/pre]
