Hey everyone, I have more photo manipulations for you to look at.

Okay, due to copy right and all that, I can only post links to my pictures, which can be found on deviantart.com. I have two new ones though there are more in my gallery if you want to find them. Anyway, I just want to get an opinion as to what people think of these pictures.

The first new one:
Jace and Clary from the Mortal Instrument series. Very basic but I liked the simple look of it all. I really only did it because I’ve just recently become a huge fan of the books. Anyway, well, yeah.

The second new one:
Ghost of You was based on just a general idea of terror in the face of death.

Okay, so, comments on YWS are most appreciated but so are comments on deviantart.com as well.

ps: I review anyone who reviews me.

Hi Lily!

Your photo manipulation has gotten better!

Jace and Clary is rather simple, but I think it's nice at any rate. Don't have many comments on that one. :P

You did an nice job on the last one, though! I would suggest a softening to tone down the overlay and stuff, but very creative of you! Nice job. :D

*will comment on DA*

Thank you Junebug...but I have two new ones, and I figured it would be easier to just post them into this one.

Midnight Angel
Well, I wanted to do something themed to the book Maximum Ride but...it didn't turn out that way, obviously.

Cemetary Drive
I think there are about 4 different objects within this one. The nigh sky in the background, the mausoleum which had to be darkened from its original daylight perspective, the girl, and there is a small raven hidden in the back near the top of the mausoleum. I was just challenging myself to make something I would be proud of, and I was.

Hey, lilymoore! Now, I'm not an artist or anything, so I don't know how valuable these critiques will be or how much you can take them into account (like changing around anything you've already made) or anything like that, but I'll do what I can. =] I'm Hannah, by the way.

1. Jace and Clary

So, I'm not really familiar with D.A, but when I enlarge this photo to see full size, the pictures get /super/ blurry to the point of being kind of painful to look at. I don't know if you did that on purpose or not, but the weird thing is that it looks kind of nice when it's the smaller version. The only thing I can say about the smaller version, then, is that Clary's (I assume that's the girl) face looks a lot more blurry than the picture of Chase does. You did a good job at choosing light, attention-grabbing photographs, and the only thing I wonder about is how it would look if Jace's picture was on a black background as well.

2. Ghost of You

I think it's cool, going with the theme, that you can see the tree through her head, BUT I would like something to be seen through her chest as well. Otherwise, it seems kind of inconsistent and almost like a mistake, like you accidentally let the tree show through. I also don't get why you have a further shadow of a tree behind the tree (which I can see in the upper right hand corner), and would like that space to be blank and not filled with that shadow. I think that would be more pleasing to the eye, simpler. This is my favorite of the lot, though.

3. Midnight Angel

First of all, I hate that font, so I'm going to be biased against it. xD I'd pick something more graceful to go with the angel. Right now, that font is ruining it for me. Secondly, there is something weird about the picture that sticks out and it has to do with the lighting. The moon is behind the angel, but the lighting on her does not reflect that. You might want to try to find an angel picture that has more neutral lighting so it can work, logically, with the background that you chose.

4. Cemetary Drive

This is one of the best put-together of the four, I think. The problem is that it's /really/ dark and won't hold anyone's interest for too long. I understand that it's supposed to be dreary and dark, but if there's any way you can lighten it up without making it look /bright/, I think this picture could benefit from that. Try some contrast. Maybe make all the background really faded out and have the girl be full and maybe have a solid, dark outline around her figure. I don't know. Just some ideas for you to toy with.

Hope I was some help!

Hey,

I've read those boks two and I thought the first one was very pretty - the models are gorgeous, almost exactly how I imagined Jace and Clary as I was reading. However, I think it's a little simple and would look more professional if you found a way to blur the two images together, so they wouldn't look so separate from the text. Unless, of course, that's the way you intended it to be - I just think it looks a little choppy that way, is all.

As for the second one, you've got two great pictures there but I think that, despite the fact that the girl is clearly in the forest, she looks separate from it. I think it would look a lot better if you had some of the trees behind her actually brush against her skin so that it would look more connected and realistic. Does that make sense? :s I'm not always the best at explaining things, I' afraid. >.>

#3 is nice too, but it sort of looks too sharp to be real. The moon and the girl, separately, are lovely, but together the way they are they look weird, almost artificial. The girl looks like she should be more insubstantial, like maybe a tiny bit transparent? Also, to make it look like they're in the same scene, you could have the cloud overlay the feathers on her wings/her wingtip protrude into the cloud.

#4, I think, is a great idea for a photo, I really like the ideas presented there, but again it looks kind of strange, like everything is on a separate layer instead of overlaping li,e they would in real life. I also agree with Hannah; it's a little dark, so maybe you should try playing around with contrasts to create a more interesting and original pattern of light and shadows (chiaroscuro - I love that word). For example, you could have bars of some kind of light show from inside the building behind the girl. :)

Overall, I think these are promising and could really be made into something awesome. Let me knoew if you edit them or make more, I wanna see! =D

Cheers,
- Camille.<3

Hi lilymoore.

Jace and Clary looked a lot like I imagined too. Although I though you could have made Jace a little tougher, he had that sad look in his eyes.

As for the last Midnight Angel,Im no photo expert, but the lighting was amazing. The way the angel looks brightened by the moon makes the scene believable and the angel blend in. Plus how the light shone trough the wings looked simply beautiful. It had a nice dream like feeling.

The only thing was that, to me, the angels pose felt a little stiff and that the moon looked a little unrealistic. The moon looked sharp against the night sky. But, aside from that, it was awsome.

Thats all I got to say. Hope you post more pictures soon.
