Hey guys! I was just thinking about how much I've been writing fanfiction lately, and I started to notice how much stronger my characterization has been for my original characters. It's not like character traits from the fanfic characters i write are bleeding in, but it has been good practice showing character by using characters I'm familiar with. Now my other characters are getting stronger. So, that was off topic, but let's get to the point. Who are your favorite characters from,

Literature
Cartoons
Anime/Manga
Television
Stage

Some of my personal favorites are Tersias, from Tersias the Oracle, Zoku from The Last Airbender, Kankuro from Naruto, Monk from Monk, and I've never actually been to a play, so i can't say. What about you guys?

Literature: Jay Gatsby from The Great Gatsby
Cartoons: Ash Ketchum from Pokemon
Anime/Manga: Anime would be Shikimaru from Naruto and Manga would be Yoh Asakura from Shaman King
Television: The Doctor specifically Matt Smith from Doctor Who
Stage: Tevye from Fiddler on the Roof.

First of all I'll admit my list's characters follow a theme of people that are peace makers or are full of this vague hope for something better. But, those were always the characters that caught my imagination. The character that always dreams of a better tomorrow or does everything in his power to make it a better tomorrow. I actually think it would be cool for everyone to analyze their list and see that there's a trend if their is one and explain why that is or what the trend is.

All of my choices seem to be flawed heroes. In G. P. Taylor's book, Tersias was mostly viewed as a powerful commodity by everyone around him. Zoku was only after the Avatar so that he could come home to his kingdom and be redeemed in the eyes of his father. Kankuro just wants to look out for his little brother, who also happens to be an immensely powerful weapon. Monk is obsessive-compulsive, but his gift/curse allows him to solve crimes like no ones business. Sadly it puts him in the sort of situations that set him off.
