The world has died, leaving only the dragons to inhabit the earth. All of the elves, dwarves, fairies, trolls, ogres, werecats, unicorns, giants, and other various magical creatures died of a plague, one that dragons are immune to. All the magical creatures died. Some regular animal have survived, such as deer, bears, rabbits, frogs, etc.
The dragons have recreated the earth to a certain degree. Powerful cities have risen out of the dust and new scientific discoveries have been made. Knowledge of magic has increased and the population has skyrocketed. It seemed that dragons would never go extinct.
An experimental vaccine for the common dragon cold was being tested. An accident occurred in the formula and the vaccine became a deadly virus, sweeping around the world and killing dragons without a thought of remorse. Only a few survived: the strongest of the strong. If the world is not to become a place devoid of life, these handfuls of dragons must band together and attempt to save their race from extinction.

Dragons:
There are different types of dragons, and you will choose which one you will be later.
The Squink:
Spoiler
Squinks are very small, the tiniest type of dragons. When elves still lived, they called Squinks, "about knee-high". Both genders are thin, wiry creatures with sharp facial features. Squink males are usually earthy shades: muddy brown tinted with dark green. Females can be dark blue or violet. This is what their bodies look like, but I could only find the female colors.
Squinks have a nasty bite, injecting poison strong enough to kill anything in a matter of seconds, but are immune to their own poison. Do not anger a Squink! Squinks can live for 100 years, but are considered children for the first 25 years of their lives, reaching their full size and right to mate at this age. Squinks do not mate for life, but can mate every year.
The Lyth:
Spoiler
Lyths are much larger than the Squinks, about two elves high. These dragons have thick muscles, perfect for lifting or crushing things. The males are a golden color with large spikes and crests on their faces and backs. Females are silver and have slightly smaller spikes. These dragons can breathe fire. These dragons can live for up to 300 years, and mature and are full grown when they are 8 years old. These dragons mate for life, and can lay an egg once every three years.

The Grog
Spoiler
Grogs are the largest and strongest dragons alive. They are three times the size of Lyths. They are dangerous, with crushing jaws that spew fire (or other things, depending on their color.) A crest of spikes curves around their head. Their talons are huge, and razor sharp. These dragons live for a maximum of 600 years and mature when they are 75 years old. Even though they are considered mature and can mate at 75 years old, they do not reach their full size until they are 200 years old. These dragons rarely mate for life, but occasionally do and can lay eggs once every five years.

Blue Grog Dragon: Boiling water

The Arc:
Spoiler
The oldest and wisest dragon, living for thousands of years. They are the rarest dragon in existence. Their bodies are clear like crystals, but when the sun shines their wings, a rainbow of colors appear. These dragons are cunning. They are larger than the Lyth but smaller than the Grog. These dragons can only mate and lay an egg once in their lives, after they turn 500. They must mate before they turn 1000 or they will die.

Dragon Habits:
Spoiler
Mating: The male dragons will show off at the twilight of the full moon, doing crazy flying patterns to impress the females. If the female is interested, she will roar, calling to the male. He will come at her call and she challenges him to a fight. They fight with all of their weapons, tail, tooth, and claw. If the female believes he is strong and smart enough to take care of her, she will fly into the air and have him chase her. Within a month she will lay an egg (dragon eggs are the colors of what the young will be).
Dragon Nests: Nests are created when dragons are expecting eggs, way up in caves like these:
Nests are built much like birds nests, the female helps the male collect tree branches to artfully weave into a basket big enough for the mother to lay on, protecting for egg.
Caring for an Egg: The female will find a cozy cave high up on a cliff top where she will lay her egg. They lay a single egg. They will stay there, keeping the egg warm. The male will bring the female food. The egg will hatch in about two weeks. When it is time for the egg to hatch and the first crack appears, the mother will roll it out of the cave she is in and off the cliff or mountainside. The egg will hatch mid-air and the young will take flight. The young dragon flies back to its mother.
Health and Diet: Dragons need to rub their scales against trees or large rocks to shed the old ones, allowing new ones to grow in place. Dragons love swimming in deep water and can hold their breath long enough to catch fish deep underwater. They only need to drink some water once every few days. They eat meat, such as deer. They are perfect hunters, the larger dragons. Squinks prefer to prey on rabbits and mice, but can take down deer and bears with their poison.

Story:
Spoiler
The dragons used to live in an area with many other dragons, but they all died, except you. They start to wander and eventually meet up with the other dragons. Some of them mate and lay eggs. Maybe some of the young die. Maybe some of them never hatch. Imagine the struggles of a race of dragons attempting to rebuild them selves without becoming extinct. Maybe some build grudges and start fighting and nearly kill each other before someone else steps in....
