"Those who have crossed with direct eyes to death's other kingdom remember us - if at all- not as lost violent souls, but only as the hollow men. The stuffed men."

The smart ones saw the tragedy engraved onto the walls and turned back to go swiftly home. The average ones decided, for whatever reason, they didn't want to participate anymore, and hastily went away before we could even begin our climb. The stupid ones, I guess we are, or just too curious for our own safety. We can preach the latter, but either way, it's too late to turn back now. Day twenty-seven, and I can hear the whispers.

Plot:

You're a scientist en route to discover and document the lost, forgotten city of Velius. There is little information on this city, nothing of it recorded in the history books, and all you know of it comes from the mouth of Joseph John, a 32 year old war veteran who stumbled upon the ruins during an expedition in Egypt when he'd wandered off from the group and became lost in the desert. You heard he was taking volunteers to examine the ruins, and signed up for your own reasons.

Velius:

The entrance of Velius is located on the top of a cut-off pyramid, a three-point tower sitting in place of the pyramid's point. The base of the pyramid is almost completely covered with sand with what looks like building tops are poking through the terrain. Upon entering Velius through the barrier located at the top of the "pyramid", you will come inside a type of holding room and there will be a small staircase leading downward. After a short descent, there will be another barrier which, when opened, activates a trap door that leads to the true, underground city of Velius.

Stuff That Our Characters Don't Know But We Do:

Monsters:

The main species inhabiting Velius are the Dovev. The Dovev are mostly humanoid, with pale, translucent skin, white-washed eyes, bat-like ears, and spindly fingers. They are the once human remnants of Velius, who've evolved throughout time to the dark, underground climate. They are blind and navigate mostly by hearing, and also burn quickly in sunlight because of their sensitive skin. Their teeth are sharp, as are their nails, their posture in hunched, and they move silently. The Dovev communicate with each other through a system of high-pitched, nearly inaudible variation of yells and screeches, and low, deep hisses. The leaders are still capable of writing using simple hieroglyphics, but the rest have descended completely into a feral state.

There are other animals in Velius. Some have been partially domesticated by Dovev- the Gacheru - and others are completely wild - the Ichtaca.
