She stood up looking straight at the black beats, lifting her hand sightly the canine lifted into the air. It immediately quit running in place and stared at her, smiling she placed the dog back on the ground, placing one simple thought into its mind. The dog returned to its master. Satisfied she sat back down continuing to write in her book...

The wolfman grew bored with the tale of Skis, so he trotted up to the horse person and asked, "Whatcha writing?"

She did not look up from her work, mumbling to herself trying to finish a small piece of her novel. Finally she glanced at the wolf-man. "A tale, an adventure, whatever you prefer to call it."

She shut her notebook before he could catch a glimpse of her work, "Do wolf-people have names?" She asked, placing her pen behind one of her ears.

Disappointed that the only word he caught was "and," the wolf-man found himself briefly at a loss for words. At length he recalled that the lady had asked him a question and he tried to recall what it was, finally managing to say, "Um, yes. They do."
There was a pause. The lady looked amused, "Well?" She said, "What's yours?"
"Oh!" The wolf-man said as realization dawned, "Oh, I'm Charles."
"Oh, ok. Wait, do you prefer Charles or Charlie?"
"I prefer Henry, Actually."
"I see." She said, not at all looking as if she saw.
"Um, do horse people have names?"

She spaced out for a moment, "Jordan." she replied looking at the strange creature that was sitting next to her. She never did like mythical creatures except for a few, but he intrigued her.
"What do you write?" She asked, trying to keep the conversation alive.

"Oh, this and that. Grotesque tales of disfigurement, gruesome tales of insane slaughter, and-" here he paused, considered that perhaps he should create a better impression by not listing off his horror stories, "- if I'm in the mood I'll write the odd romance or adventure story. What about you?"

A dark smile escaped her lips, this was what she had been working on, a story like no other. One that people would either love or hate. "I write about thrilling adventures, love, death, and-" She paused, "Assassins!" She finished, turning she looked down at the black book in front of her, the adventure it held was only one of many more to come.

Henry looked at the book curiously, half-expecting it to explode from all the awesomeness. "There's nothing for it." He said finally, "I'll have to read it."
"You may read some of it. It's not finished yet."
"Oh, I see. That would be why it's here and not out on the street being peddled by merchants."

"Wow, you can read minds?" He said, aghast, "That's incredible! I wouldn't delve too deep though, it's pretty filthy in there. How do you do it?"
Can you control minds, too?

A dark laugh escaped her lips as she placed a simple thought in Henry's mind, within seconds he was obeying her every command. After he had run through the Tavern, stolen a few drinks, and danced around a bit did she release him from her power. Smiling as he walked back over, "Did that answer your question?"

He wore a slightly confused expression; hadn't he been sitting at Jordan's table seconds ago? And what question? Then he noticed that Jordan was smiling at him with barely-contained amusement. He looked down at himself and saw that his fur now contained bits of waffle, syrup and assorted drinks. He also wore a tablecloth and someone else's shoes.
Realization dawned.
"Did you just --"
Jordan nodded, laughing.
Henry spluttered for a little while, unsure if he should be amused also or indignant. He settled for amused, though he still wished he had a clue who's shoes he'd stolen.

"My shoes! You stole my shoes! How could you!" A young man, dressed in bright purple, came running over and tried to pull the shoes of the wolf-man. "Give them back!"

"I was being controlled by-" Henry gestured at the prim figure at the table. She was studiously ignoring the proceedings, scribbling in her notebook at a furious pace. "Never mind. Here, you can have your shoes back."
"Thank you." Said the young man in an entirely ungrateful tone. As he was jamming his feet back into the shoes, Henry noticed that he had an odd symbol tattooed on his hand. Looking closer Henry gasped and recoiled.
"No...no!" Spake he, "it's you!"
