Ambition Is Critical (Not accepting/Started)

Harefield High isn't visible to human eye - probably because it's a school for future Superheroes, and even before you're saving a city you don't want your identity known...do you?

But this isn't about how you end up here - most of the students knew they would be attending Harefield, since most of them come from generations of these 'Superheroes'. This is about how one day, you - being one of Harefield's top students is chosen to be transferred to a top-secret training facility.

Why?

Because someone is going to invade planet earth, that's why. No one knows who though. Aliens? Another human race from a different Universe? All we know is that it's pretty bad.

And it's your job to stop it.

Harefield trains you for normal disasters. The natural disasters, the armed robberies. Not for invasions that could potentially destroy the Earth.

So, that's what your going to learn. At first, it feels just like school - but you soon start to realise how important this is, even the classes turn deadly.

Description: (Pictures are welcome!) Black short pixie cut style hair, light skin, her eyes are slightly bigger than normal, making her appear even more fragile than her already petite frame does.
Personality: She doesn't take crap from anyone and will never be afraid of giving an opinion, sarcastic and questioning she loves to poke holes in people's plans and theories which is part of what makes her a superhero. She's clever. And though that may cause one to suspect that deep down she's really scared and hiding something terrible, one would be wrong. Because deep down she's even more defensive.
History: From the day she was born it was a known fact that she would be a superhero, from the way that her screams broke the glass in the hospital room. Somewhere on her father's side there's villain, and that has always been apart of her, especially growing up and going to a preparatory academy. Her parents were loving and supportive and her past is one of decency. When she was fourteen she was introduced to the concept that perhaps she could fly. If everything about her was so batty (including her current mental state) then shouldn't she be able to fly? The answer was no. And she ended up almost dying because of her experiment, she received three broken bones from jumping off the ceiling of her two-story house, from then on she tuned her other abilities so that she would be ready for Harefield. Exi grew up with little to no friends, the ones she got she almost immediately alienated. Yet her persuasiveness could generally get people to agree with her.
Flaws: She doesn't feel guilt. Or remorse. Or pity. She isn't sure hy, but they are emotions she blatantly lacks.

Superhero Power: Powerful control over darkness, ability to reanimate the dead, and the weird ability to cause mortals and superhero's to fall in love.

Personality: Senka is emotionally distant but also violent, she's extremely smart like her brother Daniel, which often leads to her and him agreeing with each other. She had developed the abilities of her father, but with the weird ability to create love, her father and brother were mystified by this and don't understand why either. But her and her brother are a powerful team together, all tho they do in rare times, clash with one another.

History: Her father and mother were a powerful super villain duo, both had powers in darkness and reanimation of the dead. But eventually the two decided to settle down, leave the life of villainy, and have a family. That's when Senka and Daniel came along, there parents grew concerned that the two wouldn't have a school to help them control there powers and Senka and Daniel's parents didn't want them to follow in there footsteps and become the same as them or worse, end up dead because they tried to follow in there footsteps. So there parents went before the governing Hero League, and with some reluctance, the parents were forced to surrender there powers to allow there children to go to Harefield High.

Present day, Senka and Daniel are attending Harefield High, all tho many of the teachers despise and do not trust the two, thinking them being there is an insult to the school. All tho Senka does not know what Daniel is thinking, but she feels insulted by this distrust when she's done nothing to deserve it. So a lot of people push and insult her for her heritage, Senka is going to have problems here...

Flaws: She has a violet temper, easily provoked into a fight if anyone really wanted a fight with her. They'll get in easily enough, but outside of combat she doesn't how it but she often feels lonely or unwanted, or sometimes both. She also would never admit it to her brother but, she easily falls for buffy, super handsome Super Heroes.

Specific Weapon?: A specially crafted Halberd that was created by her brother Daniel, she named the weapon "Gun Bird" the weapon is capable of compacting itself. Has a place to pack the weapons explosive bullets in her jacket, the spear part is able to open up to the gun part of the weapon. She uses the explosive bullets sparingly, as her brother has a fairly hard time making them.

Name: Daniel "Danny, Dan" Nero.
Age: 16.
Superhero Name: Mephistopheles, a self made title. Hey, it sounds cool.
Superhero Power: Dan is an alchemist. He can, through a blend of magic and science (mostly magic), transmute materials, animate the inanimate, and a wide variety of other related subjects. He also dabbles in the art of necro-alchemy. However, all of his potions require time and patience.
Description: Dan has more important things to do than bother about his appearance, so he's usually wearing any old t-shirt with jeans, usually heavily stained and worn. Again, he has more important things to do than to bother with clothing. He's of average height, pale skin (he doesn't go out enough), tousled brown hair, piercing flint grey eyes.
Personality: Dan is what you'd call a scatter-brain. He's incredibly smart, but can't really focus on any one project or idea, always jumping from innovation to invention like a rabbit on crack. He's usually absorbed in something or another, so he's not paying attention to what goes around him. However, when you get him started on something he's working on, he'll talk, chatter endlessly. Otherwise, he'll remain quiet. He doesn't like being in a crowd, it makes him uncomfortable.
History:Dan was raised in a normal, middle-class family with his sister. He always was the loner, the black sheep of the family. Was bullied somewhat in middle school, but brushed it off very easily. Even then he didn't dwell on people. He manifested insatiable curiosity and will to experiment since age three, unlike his sister's more, ah, violent inclinations, and actual magical skills aged fourteen, so he was shipped off to Harefeild along with his sister ASAP. There, he's led a secluded lifestyle, preferring to stick to his room, overflowing with tools, items, and strange things floating in jars, than with other people, though he's made a few on-and-off acquaintances.
Flaws: He's not really good with socialization, is pretty uncaring and can come off as cold, though in reality he simply isn't paying you enough attention.
Specific Weapon?: Lolno, he can't fight for beans.

She has quite an intimidating look about her, if you see her in a group she'd probably be the last you would approach. She's usually seen in either dark, and really bright coloured clothes - often a mix of both.

Personality: Like, I said - she comes of as intimidating. She can be, but only if required. She's a people-pleaser, she can't stand letting someone down. She always works her hardest and gets frustrated if she isn't exactly good at something. She'll state her opinion if she needs to, and enjoys making sarcastic comments - nothing offensive though. She's timid usually, but it comes to light that she's a completely different person in battle - she's fiesty and something of a natural-born leader.

History: She comes from a famous family, the Harlows was one of the most well known Super-Couples around until it came to air that David Harlow had been working as a villan too. At the time, Diani Harlow was pregnant with twins and fled. When she gave birth, one baby passed away - the other was Nixon. Growing up, Diani had various doctors appointments because she kept falling asleep - until she figured that it was her Daughter's doing. She learned Nixon how to control her powers until she got proper training at 'School'

Flaws: Like I said - she is a people pleaser, whenever she can't do something and messes something up - she'll shut off for a while.

Name: Isadaemus Burns, but goes by Burns

Age: 17

Superhero Name: Psyche

Superhero Power: Basically, Burns has telekinesis. He can move objects with his mind. Along with this power he can sense individual objects that are within a 10-15 meter radius of his person. To a more limited extent, he has teleportation, but he can only teleport to locations that he has been to before.

Description: Burns is tall and pale, with long black hair. He usually wears loose black clothing that's easy to move in. He's got a kind of pointy face, but there's always a smile there, or laughter. He is blind.

Personality: He's easy going, loves his friends, and is also fiercely protective. He is good at fighting, but does not like to harm anything, even enemies, and he can wield his power efficiently. Burns is quite intelligent, and almost always has a plan. When angered, which isn't often, he will become extremely volatile, however, and you never know what he might do.

History: Burns has never known his parents. He was discovered in a back alley as a toddler, and taken to an inner-city orphanage. He lived there for seven years and got along quite well, even in the dismal conditions that he and the other orphans lived in. However, at the age of ten, his powers came into maturity, and he was thrown out, out of fear. Again on the streets, he quickly found a place that he could call his own, in a disused underground entrance. He set up a kind of den in a supply room, filling it with stolen blankets, clothes, and other things. He discovered Harefield High on accident, but used his powers to get inside, and once he explained his situation, was accepted wholeheartedly. He has fit in quite well at the school and is prepared to do what ever it takes to protect the Earth. Also, as he is blind, he has developed a sort of primitive echolocation that can show him roughly the dimensions of a space and those in it. His hearing is fairly sensitive, but not superpower sensitive. It's just gotten stronger to compensate for his missing sight. This, coupled with his ability to sense objects around him, allows him to get a fairly good picture of his surroundings.

Flaws: He can be extremely compulsive, especially when angered, and sometimes doesn't think things through.

Name: Marcus Winterstone
Age: 19
Superhero Name: Icefire Hawk
Superhero Power: Conjuration of ice and fire, shapeshifting into a hawk, and ability to fly in his human form.
Description: As himself, Marcus has blonde hair with light red highlights. His eyes are an icy blue that look white when fire catches them. He's always wearing blue when school's in session. As Icefire Hawk, he wears total black from the shoulders down and has a silver mask that hides his face. There's an opening on the back of his costume to allow his wings to pop out when he needs them most - which is flying away before something goes wacky. His wings are also used as alternative weapons, allowing him to use ice or fire whenever he chooses.
Personality: Marcus has the spirit of a wild bird - wild, untamable, and goes where ever the wind takes him. He loves to fly, but it only happens when duty calls. Other times, he has to keep himself calm. His temper's as bad as the fire element he's got and has a very short fuse. When in battle, he's about as cold as ice. Under the calm exterior, there's a wounded soul with mental scars that hurt too much to even speak of.
History: Marcus has a terrible family history behind him. For as long as he can remember, his parents dumped him when he was a baby and has been put in one too many foster homes in his lifetime. He never understood the concept of family love, so he doesn't know how it feels to be a part of a family since he was abused during his childhood. His foster parents never loved him and abused him with everything but rape. Before they even got close to that, Social Services fished him out and moved him to another foster home. After he turned eighteen, he discovered his abilities and enrolled in Harefield High. He's been here for a year, still trying to put his past behind.
Flaws: His fiery temper and abused past. His temper's on a very short fuse and can be provoked the minute he sees someone get hurt by another.
Specific Weapon?: He has but one weapon at his arsenal and that is his chakram. He keeps it on his left hip when duty calls.

Superhero Power: Has the ability to control shadows and make them into physical beings and objects, a shadow sword for example. She can also control a person using their shadow, as long as they have one.

Personality: Angel is very tough on the outside. She doesn’t like to show her emotions and every once in a while she will snap, releasing all the emotions she’s got cooped up. She gets annoyed easily and doesn’t like big crowds. She is very kind once you get to know her, but she only lets a few people get close to her. Her favorite hobby is drawing.

History: Angel doesn’t remember her parents that well because they died when she was very young. They were very famous in their time, but they’ve long been forgotten. She was raised by her aunt who is also a superhero. Her aunt taught her how to control her power and trained her in many forms of martial arts. Just after her 17th birthday, Angel’s aunt fell ill and died. After this Angel enrolled in Harefield High and vowed to return her families former glory.

Flaws: She can’t use her power in the dark because there are no shadows.

Superhero Name: Polaris

Superhero Power: She is a light manipulator who focuses on bending the light around her to become invisible, generating blasts of energy,and generating force fields though her abilities can be extended if explored. They require much energy however she can maintain her energy level by draining ambient light in an area. She is physically agile and moves quickly and quietly with enhanced speed.

Description:

She wears exclusively white, loose clothing that is simple and practical.

Personality: Though she is very clever and logical and appreciates particle physics and a good crossword puzzle she is very quiet and is never much interested in other people or her surroundings. She is very drawn and stern and has a very subtle sense of humor. Though she is not confrontational, she will challenge any ideas she finds illogical. She is friendly but distant and seems almost cold in her disinterest. She never raises her voice and is very proper in her speech and mannerism.

History: Though she doesn't resent them, she is not close with her parents after they disowned her and her twin brother at age 12. Her parents did not possess powers and they, understandably, recognized that they could not take care of them. Though she was not as affected, her brother was deeply offended and as they moved from relative to relative, they chose separate paths. She, trying to ignore the harm her brother was causing others, threw herself into her interests and the development of her powers. He on the other hand, caused enough trouble to have them both thrown into the foster care system. From there, Eden was offered a spot in Harefield. However, her brother joined a more villainously inclined association and has been contacting her on and off, casting a shadow on her newly found happiness.

Flaws: She is weak in strength and lacks advanced training in hand to hand combat. She is peaceful at heart and would much rather spend her time creatively experimenting with her powers and using them to enhance her knowledge of physics. She does not work well in a group, not because she is uncooperative, but because she can be agreeable to the point of being a pushover, frankly because some matters seem trivial to her.

Specific Weapon?: She is never really inclined to use one but she does keep a dagger hidden on her person in cases of emergency.

Name: Phillip Petrov

Age: 21

Superhero Name: The Player

Superhero Power: Probability manipulation, limited (< 5 minutes) precognition, mild telepathy.

Description: Tall slight build, blonde hair and stubble. Thin face and piercing blue-grey eyes. He has a penchant for "nice" suits.

Personality: His specific power set feeds into his naturally manipulative and narcissistic nature, making him a grade A asshole. Stands by his own principles, regardless of the consequences to himself or those around him. Inherited his mother's love of science, particularly quantum mechanics.

History: Following World War 2 Russian troops came across a secret lab hidden beneath the rural town of Amberg, in western Germany. Rather than surrender himself or his research to the Russians, the lab's overseer set fire to facility. The only usable piece of data that survived the fire was a report detailing how a specific cocktail of chemical, when injected into a developing fetus, could grant the subject a wide range of seemingly supernatural abilities.

For over twenty five years a small team of scientists worked to recreate and perfect the serum that the Nazis had developed. Tired of years of failure, the head of the project was order to test the serum on his unborn daughter, Anya. After determining the girl had no unusual powers, the Soviet government lost interest in Anya, her family, and the super serum project, ordering the research destroyed, and the records erased. Her father took advantage of the confusion to quietly defect to the US in 1983.

Anya's teenage years were uneventful, after high-school she began studying biology at a local university. At nights she worked with her father to recreate the serum that she had been injected with, in an attempt to understand what effect, if any, it had on her. A drunken one night stand ended up in her becoming pregnant. She decided to keep the child, who she would later name Phillip, partially out of a sense of responsibility, but mostly out of curiosity. According to her father's notes, the serum should have changed her DNA, allowing her to pass its effects down to her children.

Anya discovered her son's unusual powers after his See 'n Say landed on the coyote (his favorite animal at the time) 47 times in a row. As Phillip grew older, his mother and grandfather worked tirelessly to unlock the secrets hidden in his genes. Under their strict supervision, he discovered his other powers and his mother's powers as well. No matter how hard he tried, Phillip could neither read her mind or predict her actions. She appeared to be completely immune to super-natural influence.

When he turned fourteen, two men from a place called "Harefield High" showed up at their doorstep, and the rest is history.

Flaws: Telepathy has no "smoothing," ability, meaning any thoughts he reads are just as fractured and fragmented as they are in said subject's head. Precognition only applies to actions other people take (EX: he can't see what will happen to a table five minutes from now, but he can see what the person sitting next to him will do).

The cell reeked of piss, whiskey, sweat, and a half a dozen other smells I'd rather not think about. A few days worth of assorted stains dotted the front of the suit I was wearing, the grime should come out with a good washing, the blood, probably not. I guess it doesn't really matter, I never liked the suit and it isn't even mine to begin with.

I lay on my back, the bunk smelled worse than the rest of the cell, but it was more comfortable than the floor. Out of boredom I was staring at the ceiling, imagining the intricate dance of the electrons tossed about by the-- footsteps. The sound of footsteps echoed through the cold metal hallway. The sounds grew closer, and then stopped.

I casually reached out to their mind, only to find darkness and silence. At least I knew who my visitor was.

"I thought you weren't going to bail me out again," I said, still focused on the ceiling.

"And I thought you vere going to stay out of trouble," the woman replied.

"Yet here we are."

"Indeed."

"What do you want, mom?"

"It's not what I want Phil, it's what they want."

"I told them to screw off when they asked me three years ago, what makes them think I'll say yes now?"

"The situation has changed, something big's about to go down and they want all the man power they can get."

"Sorry you wasted your time, my answer is still no."

"That wasn't a request."
As she said that something jabbed me in the ribs, then everything went black.
