I listen for a moment as Jake says he's great. Anyell asks him some other questions, about his family, his brother (who had jumped into the room right after Jake, clearly a violation of code 87 specifying no under-aged rogue on a scene of crime), and so forth, while rubbing my bloody nose intently. It hurt, but what hurt more was Anyell had been the one to punch me. Guess I deserve it though; I did abandon her, and she was my responsibility.

Tarah walks in from behind, leading her extraction team. I shake my head and step to the side, making one smaller student jump and back away to the corner of the room.

(Take it away SidereaAquila! I'll be gone for a week, but I'll try to get on as much as I can! :D )

Anyell

Tarah walks into the room with the rest of the extraction team. "Tarah!" I call. Finally, a friend.

She comes over and gives me a hug. "How have you been?" I ask. "I haven't seen you in forever!"

Spoiler
Thanks, Vuzzy!

Tarah

"Nice," I muttered, glaring back at the helicopter as I strode into the school. "Couldn't just let us jump out, could you? Had to take forever to find somewhere to land..."

The extraction team was really, really late. Actually, we had been on time, but the helicopter pilot had insisted on setting the copter down before letting us out. By the time we were on the ground, the problem had mostly solved itself.

My sour mood lifted, though, when I saw Anyell. "Tarah!" she called. I ran over and grabbed her in a bear hug.

"How have you been?" Anyell continued. "I haven't seen you in forever!"

"I'm doing pretty well," I answered. "I got to start leading extraction teams last month. How about you? What's going on in the regular world?"

"I got to start leading extraction teams last month. How about you? What's going on in the regular world?" Tarah asks.

"Boring," I say with a sigh. "Failing tests is the most exciting thing that happens around here. I really miss you guys," I answer, pausing before saying "guys".

"Well it's been a year," Jake says from my left.

I nod. Exactly.

Daniel:

Jake told me to wait in the car, but I can't remember the last time I listened to what he told me to do. Plus, following him in was a good payback for stopping my fight earlier.
At first I was trying to be sneaky about it, but then I noticed Fen staring at me, and I just walked through the halls normally.
Now I hear some commotion coming from upstairs, and I see Jake running up, which I know hurts him with his limp.
This cannot be good, I think, running up after him. He talks to a classroom, and then walks into the one next to it. I follow him in after awhile and other people have walked in, and see chaos.
Well, more post-chaos.
All over the floor are broken desks. Jake and and Dominic are talking to Tarah, I think her name is.
And Anyell.
I wait for a minute while they talk, and then I can't help it anymore.
"Anyell!" I shout, smiling and running over. She smiles when she sees me, even though I know she knew I was there. In a moment we're in a tight hug. I'm a lot shorter then her, but only because I'm in the middle of a growth spurt.
"Daniel!" she shouts back.
"I've missed you!" I say, pulling back.
"I've missed you too." She's smiling still. SHe's so pretty when she smiles.
"Did you do this?" I ask, motioning to the wreckage around.
She nods with a smug look.
"Awesome," I whisper.
I notice Jake glaring at me. "What? I got bored."
"But it could have been dangerous," he points out.
I roll my eyes. "Please. I'm not thirteen anymore, mommy.[i]"
There's a slightly awkward silence for only a moment before Anyell starts talking again.
[i]You shouldn't be so harsh,
Tefire chastises.
He shouldn't baby me.
Then don't act like one, she retaliates.
...You don't think Anyell noticed, do you?
Tefire laughs. Oh yes. Yes you did.

Tarah

I was about to ask what kind of tests the dolls made Anyell take, when Jake's younger brother ran in. He hugged Anyell, and then Jake started yelling at him.

"It could have been dangerous," Jake scolded.

"Please," Daniel scoffed. "I'm not thirteen anymore, mommy."

"Yeah, what's dangerous, Jake?" I chimed in. "Looks like Anyell took care of everything. Man, I missed all the fun..."

"Yeah, what's up with that?" Jake asked. "Usually Aria's pretty good about getting there in time..."

"The helicopter pilot wouldn't let us jump out," I explained. "Because we didn't have parachutes. But we were too low for parachutes, anyway. It wasn't that far of a fall, not if you know how to land properly..."
