After calming down Isla, I flew up to find Emerald. Upon finding her, I took a seat near her.

"Do not listen to Isla's words." I struggled to find the right words. "She is just angry. A long time ago, the wolves attacked and killed her friends - they died."

I blushed, hearing my own words, "Of course they died...they were killed. I am no good with words."

I looked down at my feet and tried to continue, "Emerald...I like animals, too. But those animals are meant to kill us. They were put here by scientists to make us die."

I closed my eyes and put my face in my hands, "I make no sense, do I. I do not know many words, I am not smart like you and our friends."

I giggled as Jack played a tone that he seemed to be having trouble with as he played, I put the bow and arrow aside as I stood and stretched my wings. Jack soon stopped bothering to play the tone as he got frustrated in playing the tone, I walked over to a big pile of leaves that I called a bed and layed down on it facing Jack.

"Keep going, you were doing good until you stopped." I said.

"You thick so?" He asked.

"Yea, practice does make perfect." I said.

He started playing again this time with more enthusiasm as I really did begin to fall asleep, fighting to stay up I got up and splashed more water on my face before turning back to Jack.

"Ummm I'll sleep tonight but thanks anyways." I said.

I fly to a tree, sobbing. I love animals.... I hate death. I hear a sound, and move into the tree, camoflauging myself.
"Don't listen to Isla's words..." says a voice. He continues, but I don't hardly listen. He was somewhat stuttering, but I don't mind. "Emerald, I like animals too. But those animals are meant to kill us. They were put here by scientists to make us die!" He says something about not being understood. "... I'm not smart like you and our friends." He says.
"Me? Smart! You've gotta be kidding. I'm anything but--" I say, sobbing again. He moves closer, and pats my back. I wipe my eyes. "I'm anything but smart... I could have killed us all....." I say.
"No-- no..." He says. I push into the shadows more. He moves closer.
"Just, uh, think of these wolves as an-- exception..." he says. I nod.

Yea, so here's a Xander post! (Finally!) Keep this alive, it can't die.

Ellie May

Resting on the rocks at the edge of the island, I examined the scratches on my leg. The beats had cut me pretty deep, but at the moment I couldn't feel it and I was glad for that. I cupped a handful of clear, blue water and poured it on the cuts. On the island everyone was careful to keep wounds from getting infected. We didn't have any medicines, we had the herbs we found and the basic knowledge of survival. It was all so simple here and I wondered absently what it would be like to live in the real world--what kind of medicines they had, what traditions they kept.

I'd been little when I was thrown on the island, so I didn't remember anything from my life before. All I knew was this primitive way of life. If you avoided the beasts, ate regularly, and kept yourself from getting too sick, you'd be able to live. Most of the Winged Ones died from the simple things, like illnesses, infections, and beast attacks. The longer we stayed on the island, the better we got at keeping ourselves healthy.

Sighing, I laid back and looked up at the stars, silently wishing I'd picked some aloe leaves on my way here. I liked sitting by the water, especially at night. If you looked hard enough, you'd just be able to see the lights from the city, a soft glow on the horizon. It was one of my favorite sights, but I also had to be careful about where I sat. Beasts were everywhere, and although I could take down one or two of them, there was no way I could take down a whole pack of them. The attack we'd had tonight proved that.

Xander

I watched as everything went back to normal--some people were bickering to each other, some of them were plotting on how to keep out the beasts in case they attacked again. The most common topic I heard was about escape. Not from the animals and beasts, but from the island. People would talk about it all of the time, but not once had I heard someone actually plan anything. I leaned back against a tree trunk as I watched all of them talking, and I smiled.

From what I'd seen on the horizon, the city was so far away that I doubted we could fly that far. Even if we did get the courage to try it, we had a lot of younger kids with us, and I knew they'd never make it. Still, it didn't keep any of us from hoping or talking about it. It was a dream all of us shared and even though a priority at the moment would be to save ourselves from the beasts, we all had one common goal: get off the island.

I played my panpipes for a while until I started to get sleepy. If there was anything about my panpipes that kept me busy, it was the fact that I could play myself to sleep if I was given the chance. I played until I fell asleep with my panpipes in my hands. My sleep was dreamless as always, which became natural to me after a few days. I slept in peace.
Someone yelled, "Wake up, you overgrown butterfly!"
I stirred lightly, chuckling. Overgrown butterfly? I've been called several things, but never that. I smiled as I woke up. "Yes? You call?"

I watched the others from the sky, knowing I would be a useless burden at this point. Everyone was settling down now and I wasn't one for settling down. I'd told the others that I would be across the island and that I'd be back in ten minutes.

But I wasn't really being that well behaved. I had been forging weapons and using the beasties as target practice.

Honestly, I was sorry I missed the run in with the beasties. It wasn't as much fun messing with them alone. Besides, there wasn't much action when the beasties couldn't see me, and therefor couldn't fight back.

Despite what a nuisance I may have been, I flew down to join the others anyway.

"You're a little late Dani," someone said scoldingly from behind me. Busted. They were all about teamwork here, and fighting as a team was really important to them. I was in trouble.

Spoiler
I'm leaving that open for anyone to catch me on.

"We better go, or we'll be late." I say to Hudson. "I'll be right down..." I say. He nods, and flies down. I fly and fly, farther away. I reach the place where there's a small, thin stream. I cup water to my mouth. Then, I reach around in a small cache that I had made, and took out hand made daggers, knifes, whips, and more. Carefully, I place my most recent dagger into the hole. Nobody could ever find it.... it was too well hidden. I check my side, and feel around another sharp dagger, and a sharp tip. I take out the tip, and grab a hanging down branch. With my dagger, I saw it off. I cover my hole, in a special way. Then, I fly up, returning to a tree where I could keep an eye on the rest. I use my small knife, which is less sharp than my dagger. I fashion an end on the long stick, so that the sharp arrow-head thing I had made will sit in it. I pick a strong vine, and wrap it around the tip, securing it with a tight knot. Then, I use the same knife to smooth the whole length of the branch. It is light, and will throw very far. It will be swift. I cut another hole at the end of the branch, and find the longest vine I can. I tie the vine, so that no matter how hard it jerks, it won't come apart. My plan for this, is to throw it.... kill an animal to eat, and hopefully, by the way I've built it, I'll be able to cleanly kill an animal, but not lose it when it's running around crazily. Eventually, it will die, and I will pull it out. I'll try it tomorrow....

"I would rather not other people sleeping where I do!" I said looking at him meanly.

I placed my hands on my hips as I bent over to give him my best Get out of here! Look, cause if it was one thing I hated. It was uninvited guests. He looked at me funny, as if I was being funny or something. But the thing was I couldn't help but start cracking a smile myself, and eventually starting to laugh, he stands up as he stretches his wings and gathers his things.

"Well you can stay, but your going to have to make your own bed tho." I said smiling.

"No worries as long as I'm invited." He says.

I gave my wings a little flutter to get the dirt off them. I couldn't help but crack a faint smile at what she called me. An overgrown butterfly. True my wings are more like those of a lunar moth and considered fairy wings, but not once since our exile have I been called an overgrown butterfly. A little personal at first, but funny after a moment of thinking. I put my panpipes away and took a walk, letting my mind wander away with me. I could just built myself a nest and hide it in a tree to keep the wolves away, but how big of a nest would I want it to be? I was always sleeping in a tree, a habit I couldn't seem to break. The idea of sleeping in a tree felt like I was more at one with nature, but then again I wasn't sure. I found myself weaving twigs and vines into something, my fingers working carefully through the twigs and quickly with the vines. I was building something, I could see it. Whatever I was building, I was covering a lot of ground in just a short amount of time.

I been put on this island recently, separated from the others. I always watched them, from afar. I wondered if they were nice, but they always were flying! Who in their right mind would leave the ground, it was ridiculous! I had almost never left the floor below my feet, but they were flying like it was meant to be fun. I finished a makeshift whip out of vines and twigs. Examining it I put it with the other irregular weapons I had made. Ever since I got here it's been a struggle to live. He thought of a few times when he would meet up with the others but fought about it. I didn't need them I knew how to take care of myself. I had found a small cave just big enough for me to fit in, no wolves, and easy to hide. Also a small river ran by where I catch fish. Cooking them in embers of a fire that left off small amounts of smoke. Today I heard the wolves howl and I rushed to see, while I was starting a fire. The group seemed to fight them off, but as I returned cave floor the fire had scattered. I quickly put a few out, but one of them reached outside the cave. They would surely find me today, I grabbed everything and rushed up the river among the trees. The limbs snagged at my wing leaving a trail of feathers that I didn't realize.

I'd prefer we didn't make another. The original went beautifully, and I was fine with this one as an experiment. But honestly, let's just let it be - it's dead and cannot be recreated again. As the creator i'm not going to go through it a third time - no thank you. I am sorry though
