Amanda:

Toby saw me. So, I decided to just to go with it and follow him aorund while Char went and did her own thing.
We decided to get water and that a girl named Kim was the leader. I was slowly getting a better idea of what was going on.
No, I still hadn't asked anyone. No way I was making myself look like an idiot!
A few of us broke off to find water. Char decided to go, so I followed her again. Now that I think about it, I followed people around a lot. It's probably a good thing that I wasn't nominated for leader.
I don't really care about leaders. Neither does Char. It doesn't matter who's giving the orders, we both do our own thing, if we know it's right.
My job was to mark the trees as we went. I did it on both sides of a tree every three feet, and with a sharp rock.
It was a smiley face with a tongue sticking out. It usually looked fun, but in the shadow of an unfamiliar scene, it was slightly creepy.
While we walked I tried to get more information about what was going on.

(Sorry it's so short! I still don't know you guys very well. :D)

Immediately, I began to carry myself with a slightly new level of importance. I note that three people go out to find water. Two girls, and the guy. I was becoming rather fond of the guy, in a non-romantic way.

I walked back into the cabin for a second, and decided to thoroughly do one last search for food. There wasn't much in it, only a few cabinets, a bed, a nightstand and a broken sink-

I stepped on one of the planks, and heard a hollowed thud beneath my feet. Verifiying the sound, I stepped on a different plank, then on that one. I bent down to notice that the nails were newer than on the other boards.

"Guys! Take a look at this!" I yelled out, and instantly heard footsteps chasing to the cabin.

"What?" One of the girls asked. I noticed immediately how short her hair was, and immediately remembered telling a friend I wished I could pull that off.

"Listen," I said, and hopped down on that plank, then on another nearby.

"It's hollow," another girl, with darker, aubrun curly hair commented.

"I want to see what's underneath," I looked down at it, hopefully.

Spoiler
Underneath the boards are some food and a note saying: Enjoy.

Kim hops up and down on the floorboard, and Oli and I glance at each other as a hollow thud resounds.
"I want to see what's underneath," says Kim. We're all silent for a second, and when no one else makes a move, I get down on my knees.
"Only one way to find out," I say, and slam the board with my best palm-heel strike. It cracks, a black line showing through. One good thing about spending your childhood doing martial arts is that you break a lot of boards. I curl my fingers back and brace my wrist, hitting it again. The woods collapses. Oli and Kim get down beside me and pull out the pieces.
"Nice," says Kim, and flashes me a smile. Oli and I reach into the hollow and pull out a brand-new looking cooler, the fancy kind. When we crack it open, we're shocked to find food. Three big cartons of eggs, several boxes of instant oatmeal, apples, and package upon package of dried berries and beef jerky shine up at us like treasure that has been waiting to be found.
Kim dives into the cooler and starts sorting food immediantly, checking the freshness of the eggs and mumbling under her breath while I watch her, feeling stunned.
But Oli reaches into the blackness a second time. She pulls out a piece of paper, and reads aloud to us, "Enjoy."
There is sudden silence. Then Kim says quietly, "If we ration, we have enough food here for a month."
"Ummm," I begin. Oli and Kim turn to look at me. "Well, what I mean is, should we really trust this food?"
"I don't see how we have a choice," says Oli.
I look again at the magical packages of beef jerky and bags of apples, and my stomach turns.

"I don't see how we have a choice," I said, looking down at the food. It was then that I realized how hungry I was. Who knew how long we'd been asleep in the cabin, who knew how long it had been since we had food? My stomach growled and a few other's followed suit. "We're all hungry." I muttered, wishing I could rip open a pack of that beef jerky. It was very tempting.

Sorry this is short, planning a wedding :D So I have to be quick.

I knew there was only one way to see if the food was safe. At a quick glance, the apples seemed the easiest to poison. They werre the only thing unpackaged. I took a deep breath. If I lived, they better have some respect.

I looked over at Olli, "Hand me one of those apples." She tossed one to me, and I rolled it around in my fingers, "I'll see if it's safe."

I really didn't leave room for anyone to argue with me. I wouldn't watch someone die on my hands. Everyone looked at me, concerned, but no one spoke up to voulunteer. I was glad for that.

What are the chances, anyway. They didn't bring us here to kill us.

I use a piece of broken wood to cut off a small piece of the apple. If I lived, it was worth rationing.

Dad, Mitch, I love you. I thought, then took a deep breath. I popped the piece in my mouth and chewed.

The tension in the room was deafining. Everyone looked like they were waiting for me to fall over. Oli looked like she was about to faint.

Nothing happened.

I stuck my tounge out a bit, disliking the tartness of the apple, but otherwsie had no complaints. I looked up at everyone with a relieved smile.

"I feel fine," I said, standing up from where I had been crouching beside the cooler. "I think the foods fine."

You are beautiful because you let yourself feel, and that is a brave thing indeed.
