I was working on developing a literary RPG greatly influenced by a certain storybook I saw, and my brother mentioned that there should be monsters in addition to other humans to fight. (If the Literary RPG is workable I'll let you know) This lead to a deeply philosophical fantasy gaming controversy:
If fire mages and ice mages are classified as being in the same unit class(Mage), do zombies and walking skeletons need separate classes?
My opinion is that skeletons and zombies have more in common with each other than fire mages and ice mages have with each other. In one case, the difference is a mere matter of decay, while in the other case, the difference marks a lifetime of intense training, a difference possibly decided before birth.
You may be thinking something along the lines of: "Well, if a zombie bites someone, they'll become a zombie, but it doesn't work the same way with undead skeletons."
To this I can only say that I expect fantasy zombies to be created by a necromancer and not by each other.
Well? Any pure-blooded elves agree? Are there any zombies lurking out there who would champion the other cause?
