Pandemic

The thug pounded his fist into Pandemic's gut, but the vigilante didn't even flinch. The rugged man stepped back in refrain, clutching his hand in pain. Pain, such a pathetic feeling. Pandemic snatched his baton from beneath his long, black trechcoat, and bashed the knee of the violator. A sickening crack echoed through the night air, and the screams of the maimed criminal followed closely behind. The gang closed in, and the dark crusader didn't move inch. They all lunged at him simultaneously, launching an endless onslaught of violent strikes.

Pandemic poised himself, ready to fight, baton brandished in defense.

Snake

Snake watched from the high ground of the rooftops as criminal scum swarmed the girl who had entered their patch. He tightened his grip on the set of nunchaku he had brought along.
'This will be fun...'
He prepared to intervene when the realisation hit that she wasn't going down. In fact, Snake realised that the girl was actually winning.
The glint of a knife caught Snake's attention. That was enough.
Looping his nunchaku around a telegraph wire, he slid across to the opposite side of the street, timing his jump, pushing off against the opposing house's wall to flip the last storey and land in a roll a few meters from the mob.
Snake stood, spun his nunchaku experimentally, and shouted.
"Hey, assholes! I got a surprise for you."
As one the gang turned, trying to divide their collective attention between Snake and the girl and failing, despite having ten sets of eyes.
"What's that, cupcake?" One of them asked. They laughed, began moving towards Snake.
"My foot up your ass."
Snake moved. The girl moved. The gang didn't stand a chance.
At the end of the day, when the sun is gone and the light is lost, the shadows will play.

Sorry about joining so late. I thought I wasn't going to join but the SB kind of grew on me.

Spoiler
Name: <Unknown>
Superhero identity: The Quartermaster (or Q)
Age: <Unknown>
Gender: Male
Abilities: Has the ability to enhance the adrenaline rush he gets and can also trigger when he can do it. The adrenaline rush heightens his reflexes thus speeding up his perception of time and giving the appearance of time being slowed down for him. He has exceptional accuracy with firearms thanks to his Heads Up Display located in his eyes (explained in history) and has an unparalleled knowledge of the maintenance and ranges of firearms.
Personality: Despises the rich who care for nothing but themselves. Is quite cocky, has a lot of wit and a greater load of ego. Has great patience when it comes down to asinine people and questions. He is selfless and tries to protect the people he cares about, even if it includes dying.

History: Not much is known about him. He was what people would call average until his whole life came crashing down when he got fired from his job, arguing with his boss, and failing to find another job got kicked out of his house and lived out on the streets. Some time later he found out he had a brain tumour and, with the last of his money, sought to have it removed. Failing to find a place that would be generous, as he had a little amount of money, he decided to just give up on life until a stranger walked up to him and promised him that the company he worked for could remove the tumour. The only catch is that they wanted to test out new technology on him. He accepted and was knocked out by the stranger. When he awoke he found out that he had a HUD(heads-up display), zoom in (thanks to optical implants) and control his adrenaline rush. Outraged by what the company had done to him he killed anyone he came across and escaped.

Other: Appearance wise think of the black jacket Neo wears along with this mask:

Quartermaster

I ran across the rooftops, my crimson coat trailing behind me, when I heard the sounds of an impending fight. I ran over to join the fray and saw a girl and a man getting surrounded by a gang of thugs. I pulled out my dual pistols from the holsters, situated in my jacket. Showtime, I thought and jumped down to the street below. I landed with a heavy thud, the ground cracking around me. The thugs turned their attention towards me now, giving the other two people a chance to either run or attack them from behind. I hoped the latter.

"So what do we have here?" I asked nonchalantly.

"As if its any of your business!" A big thug shouted. The two people that had been surrounded were looking at me with a puzzled look on their face, as if I was a weirdo. Well I am, I thought, but needless to say they also seemed a bit weird. The big thug lunged at me and all hell broke loose.

"Get your filthy hands off of her, you damn punk."

The voice appeared from nowhere and the common mugger leapt of the girl and dropped her handbag. He was a scruffy, bearded creep, she was a pretty college girl. The mugger screamed slightly, and the girl ran.

"Who-" he stuttered. "Who's there?"

He grabbed a gun from his coat and brandished it wildly. It was late at night, the college girl the only person he had seen around midnight on the quiet streets, walking home from a bar. He thought "easy target, right?". No cops around, and the streets were dead silent.

"Only your worst nightmare, asswipe."

The voice continued to echo around the road, a metallic, distorted voice, seemingly from a speaker. The guy spotted a security camera- obviously one of those damn shouting ones the government were placing everywhere- and he shot it to bits.

"Oh," the voice continued, from slightly farther away, this time. "You're going to have to do a lot harder than that, Miles Terwilliger."

His name- what the hell? How did this machine know his damned name?

"That's right, Miles," the voice whispered. "I know who you are. College drop-out, wife left him- Sandra, right?- two kids, Donny and Mike, both idiots."

Miles started to run now, but the voice followed him. Every security camera, bleating out this string of insults, divulging into his personal life for the whole world to hear.

"Parents senile, retarded brother, slut sister, no job, no money, no house- you live with your friend BOB- ANOTHER ASSWIPE!- stealing money, jacking cars, killing civilians. Miles Terwilliger-"

Miles crossed a road, swerved to avoid a late night taxi. Not enough- his arm caught the front of the speeding car, and the bone shattered, and he fell, and he clutched his arm and whimpered.

"- what a failure of a man."

A man, got out the taxi. A man wearing a mask- those Guy Fawkes masks Miles had seen on the news all the time, protesting. He was wearing a black suit, and that evil, fake smile seemed to penetrate his mind as the man walked over and crouched over him, speaking in a British accent.

"The police station for you, Mr Terwilliger."

And then, chloroform.

I pulled out my taser and shot the thug sneaking up behind the first of the big guys to have joined my fight getting a raised eyebrow remark from the second. I waved the revolver shaped weapon in his general direction before ducking an attack from behind resulting in yet another raised eyebrow remark. I turned and hit the thug in the face with the hilt of my weapon and then kicked him none too gently in his 'special area'. Deep down I was a little pissed that these two had joined my fight but I was now a bit surprised that there were actually more like me, although these were guys and appeared considrably older.
"So who're you guys?" I called over the groans and moans of the thugs as they were being repeatedly hit by the three as us. Neither replied instantly, insted they continued beating the hell out the seemlessly never-ending supply of idiots. Good, I thought, it's been a long while since I'd had a decent fight.

By the time we'd finished we were stood on a mini mountain of some groaning, some not, bodies. Most seemed to be writhing around clutching various parts of their bodies.
"And that's the last time you're gonna' do that, right?" I said directly into the face of the leader, "Otherwise you're gonna' get another visit from me, and I was kicking your pathetic little asses even before these guys joined in. You getting me?" Eventhough no-one could see my face, I pouted slightly and raised my eyebrows.
"You're freaks! You all are!" He whimpered.
"Yeah, and you're scum," One of the guys said from behind me.

Snake

Snake watched the girl dispatch the last of the men, carefully wiping the blood from his nunchaku. He slipped them into his pocket and turned to leave, pausing only to listen as the thugs' leader spat insults at the vigilantes.
"You're freaks! You all are!"
"Yeah, and you're scum."
Snake began to walk again, slipping into the shadows like a ghost.
"Wait."
He turned. The girl stood a few metres away, the man a step behind her. Both stared intently at him, white eyes all that was visible through the smog and shadow.
"Who are you?" the girl asked. She took a step forward, and Snake squared off.
"What's it to you?"
She didn't answer straight away, something which failed to surprise him. He clicked his neck, his knuckles.
"How about you tell me who you are first, cupcake."

Pandemic

The cloaked figure walked away from the heap of corpses, bruised and distorted from the beating they had taken. He readjusted his crow-like mask and fixed his crumpled, crimson stained black hat back onto his head, and headed for his lab.

The footsteps of omen echoed through the midnight air, drunkards and prostitutes gazed at the embodiment of plague and darkness, unsure what to think. Beneath his mask, Pandemic had no expression, no emotion, no feeling; he just continued to walk in metronome. Yells and shouts broke the silence of the appearingly calm atmosphere. A vigilante's job was never complete. Pandemic turned to the left and began down the chaotic alley.

I heard yelling from a darkened, almost hidden crevasse of this god-forsaken city, as well as the telltale sounds of fighting, noting the sound of cracked ribs and a broken nose. Someone was slammed into a brick wall and another...tasered? Who had the jurisdiction to own a taser around here? I shook my head slightly and quietly walked over to the scene, careful to hide my presence. I had walked in on a confrontation between a young woman and an older man, both dressed strangely and staring each other down. Both looked like they could hold easily hold their own. They were surrounded by the men who were bleeding and crumpled to the floor and surrounded by their own heavy aroma of cigarette smoke and sweat.

“How bout you tell me who you are first, cupcake.” The man smirked casually and approached her, but with uncanny speed and agility she slammed him against the wall. And looked him over, assessing him before she made any further attempts against him.
I moved my eyes from them to look at the faces of the men on the ground. I recognized them easily as being drug lords, perhaps from rival cartels. She was a vigilante.

I adjusted my mask, pulling it firmly against my face and touched the gilded swirls once, perhaps just to reassure myself that they were still there.
I thought about shutting down both of their motor skills and approaching them like that, but the girl looked too proud and the man looked as if he’d take it personally. I was curious though, I had seen the reports of criminals succumbing to mysterious and sometimes unexplainable circumstances, my work included. I felt it was important to know who else was on the street working, if not with me, but for the same cause.
However, this was none of my business and I preferred to watch the scene unfold. I took a seat in the shadows on top of a building above them and waited to see if they’d reveal to me everything that I had predicted.
What caught me off guard though, was the girl throwing the man down and standing up to look around.

“I know you’re there. Reveal yourself.” She addressed me.
I dropped from the roof and landed on my feet in front of her and stared into her eyes.

Snake

A figure dropped from the opposite side of the alleyway and landed in the shadows. Snake barked with laughter.
"Finally," he stood, straightened his jacket and looked into the eyes of the girl so naive as to think she had actually overpowered him. She gave him a questioning stare in response.
"That creep's been watching us for ages," Snake gestured over at the shadowed figure, "But I guess you're new to the vigilante business."
"I am impressed," the figure spoke, "I didn't think I was so obvious."
Snake laughed again.
"And I thought the guy behind you was more obvious."

Quartermaster

Someone fell to the ground in front of me, a women from the looks of it. She didn't turn around.

"I am impressed," she said, "I didn't think I was so obvious." The man laughed.

"And I thought the man behind you was more obvious." At this she turned around. I holstered one of my pistols, whipped out my knife and lunged towards her. The stainless steel touched her neck but didn't cut.

"Don't try anything," I warned, "Otherwise you and my knife are going to be real close." As I was saying this I reloaded my pistol, the magazine dropping behind me, and replacing it with concussive rounds. She stared, as if deep in thought, and my knife arm flared with white hot pain. I roared in pain and brought my pistol round and fired, knocking the woman into unconsciousness.

"That takes care of that," I whispered more to myself. I ran and started to climb the building, scared at how she had made my arm in pain by only thinking it.

OK guys, we have a minor situation here. I should have made it clear before, but I had intended this to be 3rd person. However, I think about half of us have gone for 1st, so I'm gonna set up a DT for us to take a vote. And if you don't think that's fair, then frankly, you deserve a slap.

Snake

Snake gathered up the unconscious body of the woman and hoisted her over his shoulder. Her assailant had fled the scene, possibly fearing retribution, though at the moment she seemed as good as comatose.
Snake turned to the other girl, catching her before she was able to slink away.
"Don't go anywhere."
She turned, looking as though she might kill him there and then. Snake carried on regardless.
"You were pretty good back there in that fight. What was that, twenty guys at least."
"Not my biggest fight." She replied, a hint of a smug smile touching her features.
"Yeah, mine either. I must've taken fifty on an LA subway once, mean sons of bitches, and all armed. But I got this problem now, see, and I need some backup. You interested?"
She hesitated. Snake held off on telling her more until he knew if she had commitment.
"Just meet me here again this time next week. I'll give you all the information then, but believe me, it wont be easy."
The girl nodded, then sprinted away into the night. Snake wondered if she actually intended to come back, or had even been listening, but put aside the thought. His next recruit was beginning to wake up...

Catena:

Catena came to, and as she gained consciousness she slowly checked her vitals. Temperature? A bit cold, but that was normal after any sort of shock to the system. Pulse? Slow but catching up. Respiration was normal and with that reassurance she quickly tried to sit up, but realised she wasn't actually on the ground, someone was carrying her.

Out of reflex she felt the person's blood pressure and quickly slowed it, causing him to stumble from an intense wave of nausea and loss of feeling in his limbs. She struggled free from the person, evidently a man. Disgusted, she backed away, judging the situation carefully. She preferred to operate in the shadows but it seemed as if she would have to alter her technique. She remembered the person from earlier and recalled his comment about her being new to the business. Right now she would have been at the hospital, cutting people up and putting people back together like a puzzle. She almost missed the steady rhythm of the monitors and the ease with which she could analyse and solve the problems that were given to her. It was more complicated here, extensive factors to balance and unpredictable complications, which was of course most likely why she stuck with it. She thought of it almost like brain surgery, perhaps.

She said nothing, standing carefully composed, analysing his face and waiting for him to make a move. His blood pressure was back to normal but she still had a hold on it. He raised an eyebrow and flexed his arms slowly, but not threateningly. He had lost any tenseness and now moved as if he had complete control over the situation. Catena took the opportunity to search for the girl she had been watching. She had disappeared along with all evidence of the fight.

"Who are you?" She asked after a long silence, her interest growing as she remembered his martial arts skills utilised earlier.

Snake

"Who are you?" the woman asked. Snake felt a change in her tone.
"Call me the Snake" he replied, keeping any similar emotion from his voice. "You got a name?" She didn't reply immediately. He wasn't surprised.
"Well I just wanna talk, whoever you are. I got this problem, see, and I need to get a group together. Thought you might be interested."
The girl nodded at that but said nothing. Snake was sure she was taking mental hold of his vitals, his heart or lungs, blood pressure. It didn't scare him; fear barely even registered with him anymore.
"Meet me back there," he gestured back to the alleyway where they had first met, "One week from now. Midnight." With that he turned and stalked away, taking the chance that she would simply shut off his brain. Instead, he heard her voice from behind him; "Snake, wait."
He turned with careful noncommitance. She dithered, then spoke.
"Name's Catena"
Snake offered a sarcastic semi-salute, then left.

Quartermaster

I sat in a room. A room decorated with weapons. Some real, some antiques, but all deadly in my hands. An alarm went off. I turned to a monitor, looking at the numerous screens that popped up. Where I am is an abandoned warehouse, kindly lent out to me by the police. The security camera's I had installed suddenly started going out. I grabbed my nearby assault rifle and waited, the rifle pointing towards the door. The door burst open and I triggered my adrenaline rush. Time slowed down and through the cloud of dust, could see the man who had helped me beat up the thugs. I lowered my rifle, curiosity overwhelming my senses.

"Nice establishment you got here," Snake said.

"Yeah, well... best I could get," I replied.

"I have a proposition for you," Snake said bluntly, "If you want to find out what it is, go to the place we first met." Snake turned to leave.

"How did you find me?" I asked, actually quite worried. He didn't answer and walked out.
