Tell me something to make me feel better about people. Please. Whether it be your philosophical reasoning about the good in people, or just a personal story of kindness about somebody you know.

I felt like I already had a sort of pessimistic view of people. But I guess I don't, or how else would I've been so let down by some people lately?

Anyway, this thread is about optimism. Tell me about the good you see in people.

:D :)

People are rad. I know, because I am one.
I like you as an enemy, but I love you as a friend.

When you are in a situation when you really need people's help, and they actually do help, that is when you see truly good people. I was in a car accident awhile back, and I saw good people stop to help, and genuinely try. Those were good people.

Look in the mirror, think of all your good qualities, and know that they might be hidden in a dormant form in everyone. I believe that every person is capable of being good, although they must feel safe first. They would possibly behave better if you tame them to trust and like you.

I hate people too. But whenever I look for comfort, I just look at Brian Blessed.

I mean, just look. (A little bit of swearing.)

Why should I hate people? Man is social animal and to live in this socitey everyone needs people to talk, to meet, to help, to live and specialy to love. Being a writer I can say that different people inspires me to write on different topic.

Not necessarily true. Some people can happily live in isolation, although they are rare, but many more people simply do not need to interact much with others. I myself can easily avoid human contact for many days, for what lies within my own/others' minds (in books) is much more interesting than how the people behave.

Finding the good in people can be hard. In all honesty, you'll never find the good in most, I don't think. People are greedy, selfish and relentlessly cruel at times. But this only goes to demonstrate the importance of the generous, selfless and endlessly kind. They exist, and you'll always have chances to surround yourself with them. That's why we come together in places like this. You're not going to find any disenchantment here. I would hope not, anyway. You'll find support and friendship. As long as there are people out there willing to offer that. Not necessarily people that you know as close as your family or long term best friend. I think that's enough to keep going on. Inspire others, and in turn be inspired.

As you are saying you can live easily without human contact for many days. Yes everybody can live for days or months but not for life. So to spent life you need other person or people.

"In these times you have to be an optimist to open your eyes when you awake in the morning."
Carl Sandburg

You are not alone in your frustration. Just remember that there are good people on this planet, if few and far between. I've been meaning to play a game in which I try to find as many good qualities in as many people as possible before ten o'clock in the morning.

Well, personally I do agree with many that all people are selfish, but think of it like this:

Doing good generally brings good to yourself, especially in a ripple effect and karma-ish way. Therefore, if all people are selfish, smart ones do good for others, because in the long run it'll bring more good to themselves, versus a short-term visibly selfish act that brings badness to others. So follow that and you'll probably turn out liking people eventually(maybe...but if I say any more Ill just depress everyone(more than I have(?))). :)

To see good in people you have to change your view, your thinking,Its the only thing that will help in understanding humanity.
