Vincenzo-

Vincenzo thanked the barman, then walked over to the girl. He didn't want to scare her with his appearance- then again, she wasn't dressed normally, not as such.
He sat by her, then decided to break the ice, noticing how self-councious she seemed.
"You must be cold in that dress. Can I offer you a drink?"

Marty-

I walked into the bar, sniper slung on my back, a small pistol on my shoulder holster. I walked over to the bartender and greeted him.

"Hello Sir. You're the one who runs this place, I suppose? You do allow me to come in with, this?" I said pointing at my sniper and then at my pistol. Then, seeing his puzzled expression, I said, chuckling, "I won't use it... Don't worry. Well, I was just looking for a warm place to stay, the zombies are getting me kind of tired. I'm actually surprised that this place is not infected. Anyway, I also came to talk to people, it's been so long... Could I have a hot chocolate? 'Cause I still can't drink, I'm thirteen after all. Oh, and by the way, What's your name?"

Vincenzo

Vincenzo noticed the girl's embarrassment and smile reassuringly.
"Nevermind, then" he said. "It's just I was wondering at your... dress sense" he laugh at her expression. "It is cold, after all".
Then Vincenzo, out of the corner of his eye, saw a stranger -armed- enter the bar.
Vincenzo grimaced apologetically at the girl and moved to the newcomer.
"I heard you mention an infection" he said. "Tell me more, please" Vincenzo rolled a gold coin across his palm.

Marty-

"Oh, the infection. Well, you see, from where I come from, there was an infection that started. You see, I don't know much about the cause of the infection, but I know about it. The infected's life grows longer, they get stronger, smarter, and faster. Their arms grow longer, their eyes become all white, and you know, they want your blood very badly. They're some kind of zombies, and I'm one of the only survivors. That's why I have my weapons." I smiled to the new man. "I'm Marty, by the way. What is your name?

First try at this, so here goes...

Addy: narrator, time-travel refugee, knows her way around the 21st century
Aster: android companion, almost no people skills

I looked around, suddenly very confused. "Wait a minute," I said, quite alarmed. "This isn't Xultafi! Where are we?!"

Aster pulled out one of his little devices. "Based on temporal scans," he said, "we have landed in the twenty-first century. We appear to be in a hotel bar."

Okay, twenty-first century. I could do this. I nudged Aster. "Put that thing away," I muttered. "We already look weird enough; we don't need people staring at us. Just follow me, okay?"

I took a step forward and surveyed the hotel bar. The bar wasn't that crowded--I saw a normal-looking guy mixing drinks, a foreigner working the room, a cute girl with a very short skirt, and a guy with a sniper who would have looked right at home in a zombie movie. Hmm, where to start?

I walked over to the bar, pulling Aster along behind me. "Excuse me," I said to the bartender. "Could I have a Sprite, please? And maybe for my friend..." I looked over at Aster. Aster, whose face was usually passive, was wearing that elegant frown of his--which meant that he was extremely confused. "Never mind," I said, turning back to the bartender. "Just the Sprite, please. Oh, and...ah...what year is it?"

Vincenzo-

"I'm Vincenzo" he said, musingly "And I hadn't heard of this infection- strange, as you could say I deal in... secrets"
Vincenzo then saw a couple, dressed strangely, enter, one asking for a Sprite. Well, he had come to hunt suspicious individuals, and it seemed he had his full here.
"It seems there are many strange people abroad this eventful night" he announced. "Why don't we all pull up a chair and introduce ourselves better. Drinks are on me"

"Why don't we all pull up a chair and introduce ourselves better. Drinks are on me." The foreigner had stepped into the middle of the room, and was looking at me and Aster.

"Um, okay," I said warily. "Thanks." I didn't want to give out too much information; no one knew how these people would react to a pair of accidental time travelers.

I sat down on a barstool, nodding my thanks to the foreigner for the Sprite, and took a deep breath. "I guess I'll start," I began cautiously. "I'm Addy Barlow, and this is Aster..."

"Greetings," Aster said cordially.

Adam--

"Hey kid, here's one on me. Sounds to me as if you've earned it." Adam slides the drink across the bar to the young gun-toting newcomer. "I'm Adam, seeing as you asked, and the lovely lady over there is Lizzie." Adam wonders if he should have introduced the girl, but she smiles across at the new boy, and seems at ease. Adam goes to sit opposite her, which draws a smile to her lips, and motions that the boy join them. Was he really only 13, Adam wonders? He looks older...

Marty-

As Adam asked, I walked over to them and sat next to him. I smiled at Lizzie and nodded at Adam. "My name is Marty," I repeated, "and I'm familiar to those quizzical looks that you're giving me. I really am thirteen. Believe me. I just look older because of all that I have endured. I've been fighting for over five months now... Anyway, what do you guys do? How are your lives outside of this hotel?"

Addy

It sounded like there were two separate conversations going at once. I looked back and forth between the foreigner and the group at the bar, unsure of what to do.

"The bartender's name is Adam," Aster said calmly to the foreigner. "The girl is Lizzie, and the younger boy is Marty. He said he has been fighting for five months, though he hasn't mentioned what, exactly, he has been fighting."

"Yeah," I said, looking at the foreigner. "What he said."

"Yes, I'm Marty," I say, "and if you're interested in knowing what I'm fighting for then I'll tell you. I'm not fighting for any cause, unless you want me to say that I'm fighting for my life. And I'm fighting the infected, the people who became 'zombies' that aren't really zombies, because of the infection."

Aster, always quick to make scientific comments, turned to Marty and said, "Might they be infected with some sort of--"

I nudged him before he could finish his sentence. "Don't mess up history, remember?" I muttered. "They might have to figure that out on their own. Besides, they probably wouldn't understand what you were about to say. I mean, I don't understand half the stuff you say!" Aster had a habit of using almost unintelligible science jargon, especially long chemical and biological names.

I opted for something simpler. "Wow, that must suck."
