Hehl, yes of course I know, (I'm not so stupid that I'd put a word I didn't know in my profile) but I know it as the Russian term, not defamiliarization. I got it out of a Chekhov book, actually - it's Russian for "making it strange"... my writing forte. ^_^ But I'll stop here... Phorcys' tsk-ing me.)

^ lol, should know (if it clarifies anything) that ostranenie is originally a Russian word, which is what I knew it as... lol, I wasn't aware we Americans had stolen it as a synonym for defamiliarization. Shame on us, lol. It's much better as a Russian wrod. ^_^
