Immortal Struggles

The year is 2070 and magic is in the world. Magic came into this world on the 26th of may 2029. Humanity embraced it, some for good, some for religion and others...for more nefarious purposes. Forward to 2035 and magic is being taught to select individuals with abnormal abilities. Foward again to 2040 and now magic users have begun a war with non-magic users. Seraphs, a fanatical religous order, are at war with their polar opposites the Necromancers. The UESG (United Elemental Sorcery Group) have promised to settle this war but to no avail. Mortals have begun to take matters into their own hands. An elite group "Praetorians" are dedicated to the killing of magic users. It's now an all out battle and with no sides backing down, humanity is being ripped apart. Will the Seraph-Necromancer war be settled or will humanity be ushered in a dark age of war.

Name: Andrew Darkus (some call him Fallen Angel behind his back)
Position: Second-in-command Necromancer

Personality: He's very clever, but also unusually calm when in battle or even outside battle. No one knows why he's so calm during battle. He never tells anyone what's on his mind or emotion he's feeling. Some often believe he thinks like the enemy to know what he's up against.
Abilities: He has two known attacks and one defence power besides resurrrecting the dead to do his bidding.
Dark Pulse: an aura infused with negative thoughts- either from the user or from the oponnent. This power is more of an attack that powers up by emotions that are dark and negative.
Shadow Strike: an attack that allows the user to hit anyone from the shadows when they least expect it. This requires concentration and focus, since the chance of hitting the intended target is either slim or great.
Invisibility: basically disappear quickly and without a trace. Perfect for spying and tricking the enemy into hitting one of their own unintentionally.
Weaknesses: His temper, children, and his memories. His temper is as vile as a volcano, which could cloud his focus and judgement. He loves children, since they're too innocent to kill and it breaks his heart when he brings a child back to life. He has memories of his troubled childhood- basically his father beating him for something the poor boy never did- and tries his hardest to suppress them.

Name: Vivamus Tonitrui
Position: Necromancer, Leader

Personality:Dark, evil, cruel. Very quick to resort to violence, and he loves to toy with his enemies. A complete sadist, Vivamus is so addicted to killing, he finds it hard to control himself from killing his own team. His love of torture also somtimes leads him to kill those who are needed if they say the wrong thing. He is very quiet and lethal in close combat. He works as an assassin within the team.

Abilities: Being a powerful necromancer, Vivamus has a powerful arsenal on his side:
Darkness Manipulation: Standard necromancy, this allows Vivamus to control tendrills of darkness to kill, and physically move objects/people.

Ressurection: Advanced necromancy, this allows him to reanimate the dead and control them to attack targets. This however does take up a lot of his power.

Dark pulse: Medium level necromancy, this attack consists of a large wave of darkness being expelled from Vivamus. It is a ring that goes in every horizontal direction.

Cloak: Unique to Vivamus, this allows him to use a lot of his power to drag light around himself, making him invisible. This takes up so much of his power however, he cannot attack from this state.

Dark Thunder: Unique to Vivamus, this attack involves a large discharge of energy into a target which allows Vivamus to forever turn a target into a living shadow.

Weaknesses: Very quick to resort to violence, very narrow minded and doesn't take time to think. When enraged, Vivamus is open for attack when faced with a disadvantage in numbers. He is too brave to even consider retreat, which can often lead to him gaining serious injuries. He also isn't picky about who he kills, which can attract a lot of unwanted attention from the Praetorians.

Personality: Believes magic is a curse upon mankind as his family were, when he was around 14, killed by Seraphs for not converting. Was presumed dead following the attack but was found later after he murdered the Seraphs that killed his family. Was tried and put in jail but released early because of public outcry. Invited to join the Praetorians and he accepted.

Abilities: Uses advanced weapons, tech and close-combat training to get the drop on his opponents. Has active camouflage, advanced combat suit that has a heads-up display and makes him resistant to magic, and a lot of weapons.

Weaknesses: Emotion clouds judgement. In other words when faced against a Seraph will risk his life to kill him/her and will not back down unless he is losing quite badly. He will also not endanger civilians.

*Here's my profile. If there's a problem I can change it. I would simply like to stress the fact that though Reaper has the potential for other forms of magic he will always use wind magic only. He's put his own powers in a cage, and he intends to keep them there.*

Short white hair, slanting blue eyes, with a strange sigil like birthmark beside his left eye. Tall and lean with a slender build. The earrings, ring and collar that he wears are all magic artifacts designed to conceal and further supress his magic.

personality- Hotheaded with a reckless disregard for danger. Some people say Reaper has a death wish... They'd be right. Headstrong and nearly fearless, Reaper is truly afraid of only one thing, his own unrestrained powers. Reaper has a fiercely competitive nature. Proud, loyal, and courageous. And when I say Proud I mean proud with a capital P. This boy definetly has a superiority complex.

But his fiery nature hides a surprising fragility. Reaper would never kill himself, but he also would never go out of his way to avoid death.

history- Reaper is the son of Ilaina, a powerfull Necromancer infamous for seducing a high ranking Seraph. Ilaina concieved triplets, three boys. One son inherited their fathers Life powers, another their mother's Death powers. The third and youngest of the boys was predisposed to elemental powers.

As her pregnancy progressed Ilaina used her own magic to kill two of the boys binding all of their inborn magical gifts into the third son. Thus Reaper was born with all the magic and abilities of three highly powerfull mages. Sort of the magical version of a split personality. Ilaina was attempting to create a mage of unparalled power but whether or not she succeeded is a mystery as Reaper refuses to use his full strength. While she was at it, Ilaina also had compulsion and slavery spells placed on him as a baby. These spells wouldn't become effective until his magic developed but once that happened anyone with the Spellkey could potentially force Reaper to obey them.

Reaper's mother abused and tormented him as a child, trying to force him to use all of his powers at once. Eventually he had enough and when he was eight or so Reaper ran away from home. He found himself drawn to the UESG who took him in and raised him. They taught him to use his elemental magic to summon the wind. And gave him his power limiters, the jewellery he wears that helps bind his untameable strength.

Now at nineteen Reaper is a force to be reckoned with. Over the years the majority of his magic was sealed away. Leaving him with only the powers he should have been born with. As a result Reaper has his own personal reasons for wanting the war to end. Also lately, he's been wondering whether his mother is still alive, and who his mystery father is.

Also it should be noted that Reaper is fairly new to the official UESG team, his predecessor, the previous wind element recently retired. Reaper has only just taken his place after completing his training. Although he's well aquainted with the other UESG members.

abilities- Atmosphere, temperature, air, these are Reaper's powers to beckon. The wind is the breath of life, and it breathes through him. Reaper has clearly geared his powers for combat, it's how he survives.

Whirling: The abilty to become the air and teleport through wind and air that resembles tornados. It can be both peaceful and destructive. Although destructive whirling is a bad idea since Reaper can't direct the destruction, so he could be just as likely to harm friend as foe.

Spark: The ability to create and direct bolts of lightning through high atmospheric friction. Because the electrical bolts also have light properties whoever uses the Light element can also wield them once Reaper has created them.

Imbue: Reaper can place elemental magic inside otherwise ordinary objects. In his case the element of Wind. (Eg: He's used it on a pair of sunglasses, to see images of places the wind passed over, an excellent form of spying.)

Vortex: The ability to creat tornadoes, gusts, blasts or vacume blades of wind. By concentrating the air into various shapes or patterns. (An advanced form of this technique could potentially draw all oxygen from an enclosed space.) It should be noted that Reaper often uses the Gust form of Vortex to move objects, both in battle and when he's too lazy to do it by hand.

Warp: A defensive ability which halts and hardens air molecules creating a nearly impenitrable shield. However it takes tremendous amounts of energy to maintain. Reaper cannot use Warp for long without being drained to the point where he could collapse.

weaknesses- Reaper has very little regard for his own life so it's easy for him to get in over his head. He has no off switch. Also Reaper is downright terrified of his full powers so he refuses to fight full force.

As a result of his mother's experimenst Reapers magic, although unusually powerful, is highly unstable. Even with the restraints placed on it the level of strength he can summon fluctuates wildly. Thus Reaper prefers to use the weapons at his disposal rather then rely on pure magic.

Sword: And naturaly Reaper has imbued it with Wind magic. He wraps lightning or a minuature tornado around the blade, increasing it's desctructive capabilities.

Reaper used to have a pair of clawed gauntlets that he misplaced. They were imbued with some pretty powerful wind magic if someone wants to have found or stolen them.

other- Due to his heritage Reaper has alot of enemies. The Praetorians see him as a threat and want him dead. The Necromancers would love nothing more than to capture him and use him for their own ends. As for the Seraphs, Reaper himself isn't quite sure whether they want him dead or alive.

Name: Temperance Yoanni
Position: Seraph, Leader
Gender: Female

Appearance:

Long, red-gold hair frames a gaunt face and wide grey eyes. Temperance is compact, but wiry. She eats and sleeps only as much as she needs to in order to keep herself in fighting condition.

Personality: Her calm and aesthetic demeanour belies the depth of her hate. A very devout woman, Temperance styles herself as the loving, caring mother of her order. In reality she is a ruthless zealot who whose greatest desire is to purge the world of “the taint” of necromancy, as well as anyone who even appears to be allied with the necromancers. She hates all magic, including that of the UESG. She sees her own abilities as “miracles.”

Abilities:

Possession: can force weaker people to do her bidding by controlling their spirit.

Reading: can gain information by reading peoples “souls”. This process is not pleasant for the soul in question.

Resuscitation: can bring people back to life with conscience intact, IF the body is still in a condition in which the target could survive in. Eg. if the target has died of blood loss or brain damage they cannot be resuscitated.

Separation: can remove a soul from a body intact, and use for various purposes (mostly as weapons). The empty body no longer has a consciousness of its own, and will slowly begin to die, but until it falls apart completely it makes a useful puppet. It is possible to return the souls to the body if both remain whole.

Chanting: can use words to affect the souls of those around her. This is most volatile, because it is never clear what is going to happen and who it will affect. Also, doing this is very draining.

Weaknesses: Her spells tend to affect her physically, and they take time to work. She also has a fear of fire from an accident when she was young. While she sees herself as staying true to a holy mission, most would see her as crazy and vicious.

Weapons: (Temperance prefers to use her powers, but she is proficient in these)

Name: Lucian Moore
Gender: Male

(I don't have a picture, so just imagine Chris Rock on anabolic steriods.)

From the very first day of training, Lucian excelled as a soldier. With a decade of experiance under his belt, he has claimed more than his share of kills serving the Praetorians. Lucian holds little regard for higher authority, being somewhat of a maverik on and off the battlefield. This has lead to him being refused promotion on many occasions; not something which bothers him, as he greatly prefers to be on the front with his men. He is fiercly loyal to his squadmates, and will always do his best to ensure that everyone gets out alive.
Despite a few close scrapes, Lucian is a commanding force on the battlefield. His scars pay testement to his battlefield experience, and he has virtually developed a sixth sense that tells him when a magic user is near. He is a master of squad tactics, but will always bear the greatest rick and the greatest responsibility himself. He rarely sends another soldier into danger, preferring to 'do his own laundry'.

Strengths: Lucian is a tough fighter, with years of experience. His 'kill count' is legendary among the Praetorians, and he is owed more than a few drinks by his 'boys' down at the barracks. He is also fiercly loyal to those he trusts, so it pays to be on his good side.

Weaknesses: Lucian's cynicism towards higher authority can be a hinderance; often he will ignore 'pointless' orders, favouring a more direct approach to things. He rarely believes anything until he sees it himself. His tactless apporach to service has frequently landed him in trouble with his superiors, but nothing has stopped him so far...

Weapons: Lucian prefers to use practical weapons which get the job done. He frequently uses a heavy-duty assault rifle which is capable of both projectile- and energy-based firing. The gun, 'Janey', has various attatchments for dealing with unwanted company, such as a flamethrowers, variable scope, and grenade launcher.

One announcement everyone... If we don't get more people by the end of next week (or longer depending on how I feel) we will have to use imaginary characters/NPC's so please try to get more people.

Oh also I will shorten down the people on the Praetorians, Necromancers and Seraphs to 2.
