My mind is what saves me

I would sit in my room, waiting to pull, pull the invisible trigger.
Waiting for me to let myself give up, waiting for me to say that I honestly did not give a fuck.
But then my mind would come back to haunt me, and tell me I was over-reacting.
How long could I keep myself like this?
Saying it's alright, you'll just have to live.
They don't really hate you, it's just they don't care.
Your mom, and your step-dad never will be there.
These words would comfort me, when I felt I could die.
Alone, I was ready to silently say my good-bye's.
But my mind would haunt me.
"No, stay. You'll have to survive."
I would listen, and all I could do was cry.
Days would go on, silence was best.
Don't make him mad, or you'll soon have regrets.
My mom didn't listen as I cried in her arms, telling her, that her lover brought me harm.
She would push me away and I'd walk away crying.
To my room where I pictured myself dying.
But my mind again, would come haunt me.
"It's okay, you will live, please just stop crying."
I keep on listening, sometimes I feel mad.
Thinking I'm just crazy, and after all he's my dad.
He does nothing to harm me, it's just all in my head.
That everything I say or do really is as he says.
Useless and lazy.
Annoying and loud.
But then I remember that I know I'm not crazy.
I'm just depressed and maybe I do need help.
And every night that he tells me the lies, that I'm worthless and a bitch, all I do is cry.
And wait for my mind to tell me, "Please, please don't die."
Writing is where I can get away...

This was actually rather beautiful. I like it a lot. Very good emotion portrayal, and I actually started to feel really...sad. It was really well written. I dont know if this is related to you or not, but if it is, hang in there hon, dont give up. And if you ever need totalk im here. I know it may seem weird to talk to a stranger about stuff like that, but sometimes I find it better to tell people I dont really know things. Because I dont know them. Thats why I put my work on this dite but no one I actually know can read it. Anyway, beautiful job.

You know, despite the really varying sentence length and the stop-start rhyme scheme, this really worked. It had a beautiful sadness to it, mixed with despair and abandonment. It honestly was a wonderful piece of work, and you should be proud of it.
And listen - only you can tell you what you are. No-one else knows you like your mind does, and if it keeps telling you to be strong and stay alive, then it's giving you good advice. If you ever need anything, then send me a PM or something. Like RainyDay said; we may be strangers, but that just means we'll know what to say. Hang in there, and keep writing - it's a blessing.
Being children of a cruel reality, we fall prey to the greater powers.
To envy.
To madness.
Betrayal.
Love.
And yet without these things, we cannot remain human. Without these things, we are nothing.
But it is the greatest sacrifice. To envy. To be mad. To betray. To love.
To be human.

This is what is missing nowadays: a poem which can also read as a story. It has varied sentence structures for effect, a very nice use of symbolism and is, quite frankly, awesome. To improve, I would suggest not too over vary your sentence lengths and make sure to make it rhyme most of the time. Other than that, an epic job. Keep up the good work.

If it wasn't for poetry, I couldn't express myself.
