She was like a little princess, that's what everyone would say
Mom and Dad and Grandma, too
but whatever, that's okay.
She was the ballerina of us two, nimble and graceful as can be
I was the one who always played the hunter, the amazon,
but in short, I was just being me.

I'm sorry, Mom, I know that's not what you wanted
When you had another baby girl
I know that she's much better - you can always see her twirl
In one of those home videos you and Dad love so much
In there she's a true ballerina, spreading her hands through the air
But did you even notice, Mom? In those tapes... I'm never there.

As we grew up it was still that way -
But, hey, whatever, that's okay.
We looked the same, yet not at all alike:
She wanted to dance, and I wanted to hike.
She was soft and I was rugged from my trips
I threw stuff away, stuff that she would always keep,
And slip into a box under our bed,
Saying, "You'll miss this later, silly-head!"
She was right, of course, and I was really happy later.
Little princess... of course she'd know better.
Well, actually, no, that wasn't a fact.
I lived my life with my bags always packed
Because I went to all these adventures, for which you need useful things
Like matches, toilet paper and guitars with smoky strings
I don't regret it, not at all, but I'm not exactly normal...
For one, I hate the mall.
And I love dirt, and honest hard work and sand in between my toes
Why? Really, heaven knows.

Dearest sister, it's alright -
You didn't steal it from me; you just belong in the spotlight.
You're wonderful; I go to all your shows,
I watch you stand delicately on the edges of your toes
And how everyone falls in love with your big blue eyes...
It's just that recently, I haven't really been into lies.
I'm not too big on half truths either, so I'll just say it all up front:
How in the world did you manage to pull this stunt?
You were perfect, but that just can't be real
All that time, did you not yearn to feel?
I mean, I know you think it's not ladylike to go on hikes
And sleep on dirt and eat burnt food
But that's just it, Sis, it tastes so good!
I mean, not right then - right then sucks
But afterwards, you just can't believe your luck.
And when you reached the top of the hill...
That feeling right there, is that what you didn't want to feel?
Anyways, life's going my way -
See, I'm really okay.
Little princess, I'll see you at your show tonight,
Lots of love,
Your Spunky Little (girl) Knight

I really like this and I can relate to it so well.
Not to be mean, but now I just want to say that the flow of the poem could be improved upon, but that's something that you can fix pretty easily, by reading it through out loud and changing things. It's still really good. I like the story you tell.
A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes. I screamed aloud as it tore through them and now it's left me blind.

I like the poem, though I think you should break the stanzas up a little more.

My, my, my, my, MY! That was a VERY delightful read! You're material was fantastic, and I'm so glad that I got the chance to read.

I love the title for this piece, you picked the perfect thing. The opening was very good, it drew me in, and set the rhythm very early in the piece. There is one thing that I would recommend changing; In lines (1) , (4), and (5), I think putting a break after the commas would allow the rhythm to be more clear. However, in the second stanza, I think that you should actually keep the longer lines, the way you have them. Two things, though. First, an ellipses is put as [periord/space/period/space/period], rather than three consecutive periods. Secondly, I feel that the flow of the poem is broken a bit in the last few words of the second stanza. I think that, instead of
. . . I'm never there.

you should have
. . . I am never there.

Being an avid camper myself, I fell in love with the third stanza. However, instead of putting
that's okay.

what about
that was still okay.
?????

When I read the closing stanza, it wrapped everything together really nicely, and provided a definitive sense of closure (as well an ending should!). I especially loved the tag with which you signed the poem.

I hope my review helped at least a bit! Let me know if you ever need a review, I'd love to help in any way I possibly can!
