Not As They Seem
Chapt. 4
My scream echoed throughout the house as Cookie lunged at me. Luckily, my survival instincts kicked in and I dashed back into my bedroom and slammed the door shut in time. The thump of Cookie’s body hitting the door made me jump.
A low growl murmured outside the door.
I locked the door and backed away from it as if it were on fire. Okay, I got some things clear:
My cat is a blood sucking vampire (or has a very bad case of rabies)
A crazy (very attractive) vampire is after me
And my beautiful amazing future lover is possibly on his way back with a crazy vampiric cat outside my door.
I needed a plan. I slowly touched the pocket knife in my back pocket. I couldn’t kill Cookie, I’ve had him for two years and I love that cat so much. Plus, I couldn’t bear to kill an animal, that’s just mean.
The options went on and on as I paced my room casually, nibbling my lip. A loud roar erupted out the door and I gasped.
The crackle of the wood on my door breaking made my heart jump as Cookie’s head busted through the door.
I screamed as he roared again, his eyes blazing red and his long white fangs hanging low past his jaw. A green substance dripped from them; was it poison?
I didn’t concur the thought because I was to busy clawing my cat off my face. I screamed into his stomach, gripping on his sides as he dug his talon like claws into my face. He was growling and meowing frantically and we stumbled around my bedroom.
I’m sorry that he’s hurting you, whispered a voice in my head, it won’t happen again.
God! I cried happily.
I’m not God, you idiot! After they growled that, their presence left my mind.
Finally, I was able to throw Cookie off me. Panting hard, I touched the side of my face to feel the wet substance of sticky blood and open wounds. Cookie growled at me and started twitching towards me. I gasped and leapt into the bathroom.
“Robin?” Called a familiar, masculine voice.
My mind squealed. Phil was out there with Cookie! Ready to be mauled and had the life sucked out of him by a little cat!
“Phil!” I cried, “go away!”
“What? I can’t hear you, your radio is blaring this apartment building.”
I blinked twice to realize the song Rolling In The Deep was blasting from my stereo in the living. Thing is, I hadn’t turned on the radio.
“Cookie! Did you turn on the radio?” I snapped at the bathroom door.
“Robin!” Phil cried, “I’m coming to help you!”
Well no shit Sherlock…….you’d better help me……
“Cookie’s a vampire!” I called.
“Who’s Cook---” Before he could finish his sentence, a loud growl from my cat erupted in my bedroom and Phil cried out.
“Phil!” I screamed and jerked the bathroom door open.
A long gash covered his arm and blood was oozing onto the floor. Cookie’s body was dark orange but no blood marked his fur. He looked fine other then being dead.
“Phil,” I breathed, my heart racing and my stomach slowly relaxing for when it had dropped. I felt sick and hot.
“He’s not dead,” he shook his head, “nightshade.”
I blinked, “n-nightshade? What’s that?”
His dark blue eyes met mine, “I’ll tell you later, we need to put the cat somewhere so he can’t hurt us again.”
I nodded as he gathered Cookie into his arms and took him into the kitchen.

“Nightshade is a type of plant that makes you pretty much paralyzed,” Phil explained as he slipped Cookie into a steel cat cage. (I have no idea where he got it, but I’m afraid to ask).
“So we’re just going to knock out every single person I love until there’s no more left?” Until there’s just me and you.
“I hope so,” his blue eyes met mine. A spark of passion glittered in them but I refused to be charmed and begin to drool.
“That’s a good idea,” I said, softly, rubbing my hand against the cold cage, “how are we supposed to turn them all back?”
His reached into his pocket and pulled out a long, dark stake, “we need to kill the Head Vampire and I’m guessing you know who that is.”
My heart squeezed at his sexy, vampire hunter look, “y-yes.”
“Good,” he smiled, pushing the stake back into his pocket, “now, since this is an apartment and all, do you have a small, dark place we can put Cookie?”
I nodded and led him down the hall and to my laundry room. It was a dark room, with a small window between the two washers. The only view it had was a brick wall of the building next to ours. Across from the washers was a long and very dark closet.
Phil tossed Cookie into it and locked it, “if a person comes next, we’ll tie them up with silver and locked them in there until we can find the Head Vamp.”
I nodded.
He checked his watch and grinned, “well we survived this night,” he turned to the doorway and glanced back, “time for bed.”
“Phil,” I said softly and he turned around to face me. His face was paler then usual but it was soft and caring. Maybe he liked me! “Phil, thanks for saving me.” I tried batting my eyelashes to look all pretty and such only to have a loose eyelash drop into my eye. I began to scrub at my eye.
He grinned, “no problem, Robin.
