(Really iffy about this one, because the whole object on black thing isn't original anymore...)

These are nice; I think that they all feel perhaps a little bleak, but for what you wanted to accomplish, they were all quite well done. The first felt a bit off at a couple of points, primarily in framing and the crowding of text next to subject, but otherwise, wonderful job. The second felt like the focused bits should be a bit sharper, that maybe it was almost surreal, a bit odd for a literary cover. The third felt like it was trying to be elegant, and fell a little bit flat. Mind you, it's still quite well done, but the water below with the broken reflection set on a black background was just a bit much for me.

I'd say that the first is probably my favorite, just play with spacing. Good job overall. :3

These are very professional but as Perse says, they're a little bleak and I'd even venture to say mature. There's not enough of the fun element in them for my liking which is what really makes YWS what it is. Professional but fun. Well organised but mischevious and always open for a prank or two. These are very pretty, just a bit... traditional and mature.

One. The lighter background I like but I don't understand how the image relates to the site and the third line of text is a little tricky to read.

Two. It took me a moment to realise what the image actually was but then I liked it but it's a bit too blurred and takes too long to work out. In a shop my eyes would brush right over that and on to something else.

Three. Visually this is stronger than the second and I like the reflection but yeah, the white on black isn't working for me. Maybe if you tried a background in blue, green or purple? I'd just like to see something a little brighter that's going to stand out more and reflect our community.

The second is probably my favourite of the three.

Mmm. These are different.

So. I'm not sure about the first one, simply because the towers seem a bit...crowded, if you know what I mean, towards the right, and the birds do little to balance it out. I feel like that picture could be amazing if the angle were just a bit different. As for the second picture, I think it would be nice if the subject were moved upward a tad, so that it's somewhat more centered. I really love the third one, save for the font: I feel it should have a more delicate essence to it to match the picture.

Good luck, and I hope this was helpful.

This, but the main problem Juniper is that your fonts don't mix with the backgrounds at all. It comes across a bit sloppy. BUT, the first one doesn't do this. I think you made the right choice with font to background there. You need to fix how empty the bottom is , or change the focus of the towers; as is, this cover can't decide if it's crying against industrialism and capitalism or just aloof.

Juni! I totally thought you were Solvalery!

Anyway,
Ichi : Mm, I love the photo, but not as a YWLJ cover. It reminds me of nuclear towers, and that sort of dampens the mood, you know?
Ni: I really love this! Looks neat and professional (with a tad blur, but I guess issok). Maybe you can add the 'fun' element onto the title? Since, I do think the photo shouldn't be messes with.
San: I like this too! Clean and crisp birdie! As Heather said, maybe an alternate background?

Cheers and good luck!

Pretending in words was too tentative, too vulnerable, too embarrassing to let anyone know.

sachi: influencing others since GOD KNOWS WHEN.

It had a perfectly round door like a porthole, painted green, with a shiny yellow brass knob in the exact middle. The door opened on to a tube-shaped hall like a tunnel: a very comfortable tunnel without smoke, with panelled walls, and floors tiled and carpeted, provided with polished chairs, and lots and lots of pegs for hats and coats—the hobbit was fond of visitors. The tunnel wound on and on, going fairly but not quite straight into the side of the hill —The Hill, as all the people for many miles round called it—and many little round doors opened out of it, first on one side and then on another.
