Nicholas Crest helped his fiancée Alice pack a small lunch box of food. She smiled as he did so, thinking to herself how helpful he was. Nicholas was always the kind to think of others before himself, and if anyone asked her Alice would tell them it's just "One of the many things" she loved about him. They had known each other since since middle school. Nicholas being older by 2 years, He was about to graduate. But when he saw Alice being picked on by a large boy who'd taken the bows out her hair and messed it up. Nicholas would never admit his crush on the younger girl, but when he walked over to the brute and asked him to stop, the black eye he had for the rest of that week would stand remain as a testament to the contrary. their relationship was strong, and passionate. But Nicholas always had a problem; He always feared someone hurting Alice. He would try his best to come up with wild, and impossible ideas that someone was going to hurt her. She always got upset with this, and it often resulted in them missing out on things, due to his fear of such impossible events. But despite this, Nicholas got a "yes" as he put a ring on Alice's trembling hand on their 10'th year anniversary. Now 25, Nicholas works at cCar lot, as a salesman for all ford and General Motor Vehicles. Alice at 23, is a secretary at a very prestige and elite lawyers office downtown. She was spending the night at the office to work on a very important case with her boss, Gregory Xiao. He was not only the head of the business, he was the founder and one of the most powerful men in the state of Pennsylvania.
As he finished packing her lunch, Alice leaned over his shoulder, hugging him. "You sure you're not gonna flip out and call me every few minutes? Or cry without meeeeee?" she giggled as he shrugged he laughed and pretended to sigh "Oh, whatever will I do without the almighty Alice? My life will just crumble to pieces without you!" She let go, and looked up at him. "Hey! That's rude!" He closed her box and put it in her bags, turning to pick her up and spin her. "You know I'm gonna miss you, Cuddlebuns. But I'm going to be okay! I can handle a night without you. I'll just tidy up a bit for once, and watch a movie or something. It'll be okay!" She squeezed him tight, and when he put her down, she locked lips with him for a long moment before grabbing her things and putting her jacket on. "Then before you sit down to watch Toy Story for the millionth time, I hope you have this place clean, 'kay? I'll be back in the morning, so make sure you're well rested so wee can go out for breakfast." "It's a classic! And sure, bay. I'll be alright. Just call me if you need me, okay?" He smiled, as she nodded and closed the door. He went into the closet, and pulled out a broom and dustpan. "You're lucky I love you," He muttered to himself as he began to sweep.
A half an hour later, Alice pulled up in front of the tall black office building and made her way inside. She saluted the security guard Jeff Santos, and the janitor Richard Robles. They both greeted her happily as she made her way for the elevator, making dirty jokes about Mr. Xiao as they usually did as soon as she got in it. She chuckled, and soon arrived at the highest floor, greeted graciously by Mr.Xiao himself. "Well if it isn't my little ray of sunshine!" He said, putting down a folder amongst scattered files on his desk. "Glad to be here, Mr.Xiao" She said in satire. He briefed her about the files they had to go through, and what it was they were looking for. He had a case soon with a man who had murdered his children and wanted any information regarding a very questionable history of medical conditions. Most of it was years of missing information, so they were there to search all the could about this mans past. For hours, they worked. Grunting, and sighing heavily due to the stress of the work. Eventually, Alice began to notice Mr.Xiao eying her strangely. She noticed since she came in that he'd been doing so. More so now, however than before. She tried to ignore it, but after a while he began to remove his suit jacket and his glare grew more intense as minutes evolved into hours of lapsed time. Eventually, she too grew a bit fatigued, and went onto the outer veranda to get some fresh air. Hoping he wouldn't... Mr.Xiao soon followed.
"I really must thank you, for accompanying me tonight with this stressful research." He spoke as he made his way, standing beside her to view the lights below. His eyes almost glued to her, she made no eye contact as she replied. "It's no problem, sir. I'm here to help." She looked up, and almost away, as he stepped closer. "You know, it gets a bit..too stressful up here so late. Wouldn't you agree?" She nodded in agreement. "A bit, I suppose." He leaned his elbow on the gate of the veranda, and perched his chin on his hand as he smiled, looking at her. "I'm sure there must be some way we can release this stress, don't you agree?" Alice suddenly felt a wave of fear and disgust wash over her as she turned to face him. "What is it you're suggesting, here...? You know I'm engaged, I must've said it dozens of times since I started working!" She stepped back, but it did no good. "You do realize that this case, could make you a very wealthy woman. If I decided to fire you now, you'd have nothing but a stamp of humiliation on your record that would ruin your job in this business for longer than you care for. " His demeanor and voice changing completely as he spoke, Alice knew now she wasn't dealing with the sweet generous man she thought Gregory Xiao to be, but the powerful man he in fact is. But this, wouldn't stop Alice from defending herself. "I don't care how important this case is! You're not going to touch me! As a matter of fact, whether you fire me or not, I'm leaving! I won't stand to be spoken to like that!" She began to walk away, but he quickly grabbed her wrist and gripped it tight. "Just hold on, you little slut! You're gonna be nice and quiet, and I'm gonna have you one way or another!" His voice was harsh, and his attitude finally showed that beneath his "polite" exterior was a man of demands. He began to grip her up, as she hollered and screamed. He held her wrist behind her, and brought her back inside. Alice looked up at the security camera, screaming for help. But the red light suddenly faded as it went offline. She realized now that Mr.Xiao's intent in wanting her assistance was none other than to have sex with her. Weather she was willing... Or not.
She screamed and screamed, and he would yell at her. "You stay shut! You hear me? I don't like them loud!" as he fumbled through her clothing. It was only a matter of time, before one could hear the echoes of her screams and his grunts. All Alice could do was close her eyes, and try hard to push away this assult from existence. Mr.Xiao simply laughed, and eventually paused, letting her go. Aside from laughing, His only words to her were, "I never would've thought you were a virgin! Thanks!" He hoisted and fastened his belt buckle as he walked away, panting. Alice fell to the ground, her body aching and her mind in a horrid daze. She laid there, trying to breathe as she cried and huffed for air. She looked up at floor surrounding her desk. Littered, with papers and folders. Pens, decoration and other supplies. But it wasn't until she looked directly to her side that she began to cry hysterically. She covered her eyes, and barley uttered his name over and over, as she shielded herself from the view of a photo of Nicholas.
The very next morning, she came home. Asleep on the couch in a spotless room was Nicholas. Still holding a bottle of Fabreeze and a feather duster beneath his grasp on the side of the couch. The DVD menu for Toy Story looped on the TV, as she made her way in. Her face red and her body shaken she began to make her way inside, when Nicholas suddenly heard her foot steps, and got up. "Heeeey! Where are ya? Weren't we gonna go to breakfast? I'm starved, babe." Low and broken, her voice softly rasped. "Not now.. I'm really tired.." His eyes widened. He knew something was wrong. And as he made his way to her, she fainted. He turned her over and saw her face. He panicked and darted to the phone and had an ambulance sent for her as fast as he could. He paced, and he worried. Nothing could explain to him why she was so ill looking, or what had caused it. That is, until a doctor approached him. With a smile, the doctor went through the bad new first. "She seems to have fainted from fatigue, but she'll be okay. She was quite worked up, I take it her job is stressful. I do have to ask, though. Do you usually practice rough intercourse?" Nicholas suddenly looked up at her with an annoyed expression. "I have no idea why you're asking, but we're both virgins! We're saving that for Marriage." The doctors face went sour, and as she looked over her clipboard. "Well.. Um. Were you intoxicated by any chance prior to bringing her here?" Again, Nicholas sighed from the annoyance of the questions. "No, doctor. Look. I don't drink, and neither does Alice. Why are you asking all of these things...? What's wrong with her?" With a scared look on her face, the doctor fumbled in her mind for the right words. She looked up at him, and back down at her papers. She then just blurted, "We found traces of forced entry in her, and when we checked, she had.. traces of semen on her inner thighs.. and some on her clothes, as well..." Nicholas' eyes widened.
Before he could open his mouth to speak, he felt a sudden tense rage build up in his heart. He then began to swiftly tear, as his mind brewed into a vicious storm of confusion. "A..A-are you. S-say..Saying.." He began, trying to fight the tears that broke through past his will and fell. "Th.. That. That.. Alic.. w... She was.. Ra...nnngh.." He stuttered and began to look down, tears falling and hitting the ground. The doctor only comforted, as she picked up a small walkie from her side, and made a call to another employee. She sent for someone to come get him, but he sprang from his seat and made his way for the room Alice laid in. He pushed passed employees, and his eyes were full of ear and misunderstanding. He burst into her room at last, and found her looking out the window. "Tell me they're lying, Alice. Tell me they're lying!" He looked at her, and she slowly turned to face him. She could feel the pressure, and feel the nervousness in his body as his hands trembled along the side of her bed. She reached out, and touched his face, and tried to wipe his tears away. "I'm.. Sorry Hun. I tried to get away.." Before she could finish, He felt his heart throb hard. Nicholas fell to his knees. "I tried to stop him..! But.. he just.. He wouldn't let me go..." those words echoed in Nicholas' ears that night, as he laid. in his room, struggling to keep silent. He had fought the urge to scream, trying to stay strong still for Alice. Somewhere inside him, Nicholas snapped.
Friends would often come to visit, but could do no more than turn back, when they heard his crying and screaming from behind the door. Alice herself, couldn't bare to come home. She stayed with a close friend, and would try to come home, but Nicholas' voice would pierce her heart from behind the door, and she'd brake down. Her friends would force her back, and it never got better. She called, and called. She tried to get him calm, and said it would be okay, but nothing would help. He would beg her to come home, she would try, and it was all an effort that led to no avail. It had been 8 days, with this simple cycle tearing them both apart. But eventually, the crying turned to laughter. Memories, replaying in his head would taunt him at his loss. In one night, he was deprived not only the purity of his one and only, but of having her bear his children. He had lost his dream in mere hours, and all those spent protecting her were in vein. He began to plot, and scheme. He would ramble on and on, and it wasn't until his first step outside, that he took a good course of action. He got in his car, shaved well and dressed properly. His disposition was fixed, and nobody could tell he was as broken at all. His eyes were simple. His breathing normal, he seemed perfectly okay, as he drove to G.Xiao & Partners' main office.
He made his way inside, and quickly searched the area. Close to the elevators, he saw Jeff. He walked over to him, and with a choke, he asked "Are you the head security here?" Jeff looked in suspicion, and responded. "Yes I am, sir. can I help you? "Look, I know what happened to Alice here, and " At the mention of her name, the officer twitched. Nicholas caught wind, and leaned into him with angst. "You know, don't you! You know who did this to my Alice!" Jeff backed away, understanding fully the anger coming from what he new knew to be Alice's' well spoken of fiancée. "Listen, kid. It's not easy to say this, But the only guy you want is Xiao. He.. He threatened to get me put behind if I didn't cut the camera.. I know he hurt her, but. I can't help you.." The guilt was heavy in the officers face. He wanted to hide it, but he knew he couldn't hide it. "So you sat there, and let her get hurt? You did this to her? You let her get hurt! You.. YOU.. You tell.. That Bastard! That he's MINE, you hear me! MINE!" Nicholas busted into a rage, and people in the lobby began to stare. Jeff had no choice but to restrain him and through him out. But before he let go, he whispered into his hear. "Listen, kid. If you want to get Xiao, I'm all for it. But we were just as victimized as you are... Because he's done it to my wife, too. So if you're going after him, You got my support. But Otherwise, I'm .. I'm sorry.." The guard released him, and hid his face in his cap as he turned around. Nicholas looked up at the building, and his fist began to tremble. He shouted at the top of his lungs, curses and threats to Gregory, and fled swiftly back to his home to contemplate.
Alice was in the house, when he came back. She laid there, asleep. Her body pale, her voice as soft as an angels. She wanted to be there for him. She wanted to take the pain away, but when he looked into her eyes, he could feel the fear and terror she endured. He leaned in, and kissed her cheek. He grabbed a few things from his room, quietly, and left. She waited, in that house. Hoping he'd come back. But he never did. He wasn't seen, after that. Not by Alice, not by anybody. Nicholas Crest, Had vanished. Many files had been made, missing people reports. Alice would leave the house, and have an abortion. She couldn't bear the house, or the thought of birthing a child conceived from such a horrible night of crushing memories. No phone calls, no information. It was as though Nicholas Crest was no more. Alice renounced her position, and never bothered to file a lawsuit against her former boss, Gregory Xiao. It was an impossible thing to do, and she would not endure the birth of a child to win a lawsuit. She couldn't even stand the thought of looking at it, should she have chosen to do so. Alice McIntyre was broken, from the inside out.
Mr.Xiao had gone weeks later, to see come fellow executives and lawyers at the grand opening of a fine club in an attempt to clear his mind. He had heard of the threats made to him that day, and had feared them. Though he could not make much of the face of the person on the security film, he could sense the hostility in the threats and cries of death wishes on his life. As powerful and brutal as he seemed, He had many enemies. Convicts, families, fellow lawyers. Walking on the streets, he's always look over his shoulder. Now that another person wanted his life, every man on the sidewalk that crossed eyes with him could be his enemy; and he would never know. After a few drinks, he shared this fact in a drunken stupor with his friends, and they encouraged him. "What have you got to worry about? You're rich, man! Nobody can touch you. They know who you are, and what you've got under your thumb. One bad move, and you'll have em down in a cell in no time." Said one. "Yeah! Who knows? The guy hasn't been found, right? Theres a missing peoples report on him, too! He's probably offed himself! Haaahahahahaha!!" Gregory laughed with them, and after hours, was convinced of all these portabilities. He had successfully slept with 19 of his coworkers, and 5 of the male employees wives. And not once, had any of them; known or not. Done a thing to stop him. What was one mere 25 year old to him? "I'm George Xiao!" he repeated to himself, as he was escorted out to his car, by the gentleman that parked his car. "Nobody.. can do ANYTHING!!! To ME!!" he thought to himself. As he stumbled to his car. It suddenly occurred to the other gentlemen, as they remembered what he said. "I'm gonna go get my car from the valet guy.." One of them had interrupted to ask, "Hey.. Hey guys. Hold on. What'd Xiao say..? Valet? There ain't no valet parking here, is there???" They slowly put down their drinks and looked to each other.
That night, Gregory Xiao was found dead in a parking lot. Reported by his comrades, he laid next to his car in a vast river of his own blood. He died from several knife wounds to the sternum, and several through the throat. His wallet was left, nothing stolen. He had been stabbed, slashed and beaten. All within the course of only mere minutes. The amount of damage done according to the autopsy was "almost impossible to achieve in such a short span of time by anything but an animal" G.Xiao & Partners was later purchased and renamed. Nobody knows, where or why Nicholas vanished. Nobody knew how he did what he did, Or if it was even him that did it. But one thing is certain. Nicholas Crest, was in fact no more.At the cost of his love, her purity, and even his identity. Vengeance was achieved. Such mindless slaughter, and acts of violence are the fruits of a game of Commit and Dread.
And what of Alice? She Laughed.
"You really got to stop coming up with these wild stories, Nick. I'm gonna be late!" She tugged on her lunch box, as he held it tight. "Please, just consider the possibility?" Nicholas whined, holding onto the box with a firm grasp. Alice stopped, and smiled. "Do you really want me to stay home and watch Toy Story with you that bad? "...How'd you know?" She shook her head, and flipped open her cell phone. After a few minutes, she came back in the room. "Yeah mr.Xiao.. I'm awfull sorry, but Nick's got a really bad stomach pains, and I may have to take him to the hospital. It's okay, Maybe tomorrow.. alright? Thanks... Sorry, hope you figure it all out!" Nick sat down, and held Alice tight as he started the movie. "Thanks, Ally! You know I really hate that boss of yours.."
