Darling, I hope you like this alright. :3 I'm not sure how I managed to go from zombies to fairies...but whatever. It's still sorta creepy, right? ^^' Sorry about the quality too. Some of the colors and shading got washed out by my scanner...

The drawing part of BehindtheMask's prize for beasting up my contest. Done in ink and colored pencil.

This is great! And what are those creepy little things whispering in her ear? Definitely cool, and a real nice piece of art I'm not really qualified to review it so I won't be pointing the minutia, but I know good work when I see it. God, those little winged things are creeping me out Anyway, great work!

Heehee I'm just so twisted that it makes me happy they're creeping you out. Well, they're supposed to be fairies...my own take on the little winged devils, of course.

Hahaha I love this. It's so creepy but it's also cute in a twisted way :3 the only problem I have with this, I think, is the proportions. The arms are too short, and the head is too big. Also, the neck is twisted in a strange way. Proportions are very hard to get right. I stink at proportions so I really can't help there. I would suggest practicing with references.

I love using references because you can get into the feeling of drawing something professional as well as proportionate. Drawing from visuals is a great way to learn how to draw things you're stuck on, and they can teach you things you never knew how to do before. Personally, without references, I wouldn't be able to do crap by myself. But because I learned how to draw some things, like hands, from pictures, I can draw them fairly well on my own. So, I would definitely suggest using visuals, if you haven't done so already :3

I really like the wings on the fairies. They look so fluffy and they contrast in a very unique and great way with the faces of the devil/fairy things. Oh yeah, I also love the fact that one fairy has "X"s for eyes and the other has "O"s for eyes XD

Wow, Bunny! I love it! It's just the right amount of creepy without being horrifying. Much more original than zombies too... those fairy things, man, they're just weird. XD

I really like their wings, they're very nicely done.

And, well, those are some creepy little fairies you've dreamed up, eh? I love them. They're perfectly original and unconventional....

The sun in the background doesn't do a whole lot for me.... but maybe it's something symbolic, or whatever. I don't know.

Otherwise... well, her dress does seem a tad flat.... butdon't take my word for it, wrinkles and shadows have never been my strong suit....

But, hey, those fairies are freaking inspired man XD

I don't usually do much art reviewing on here, because I kind of like to think of myself as a purist who wants visual artist/photographers to go show off their skills somewhere else... but this... just... wow. You are extremely talented, my dear! I've seen some of your other drawings and liked them, but this one blows me out of the water! I love the zombie/fairy things a lot. They're my favorite part of the whole thing. But the overall composition is really great as well--the girl's expression, the sun/halo/seal behind her head (giving an impression of a goddess, but also of some government official), the subtle gradient in the background--it all comes together to be a wonderfully creepy illustration. I know this probably sounds silly, but I really applaud you for knowing when to stop. Whenever I draw I always get carried away and end up going way over the top with shading. >.<

There are a few things I'd like to point out about this, though. Firstly: the zombiefairies. I love them. The wings, the masks, the bodies, the x/o eyes, the hoofed feet... so intriguingly, intricately creepy. But is the one on the left supposed to be bigger than the one on the right? I think the one on the right is supposed to be a female and the one on the left a male, so maybe you intended the size difference, but I can't help but think it looks a little like a mistake, and for the longest time I couldn't figure out why. Animals vary in size all the time, especially between genders, so what looks so wrong about this one? Well, I think I got it: it's the heads and hands and feet. They should be roughly the same size from one creature to the other, I think. Right now, it looks like the entire female is just a scaled down version of the male since everything about her is smaller.

The other thing that bothers me slightly about this is the girl. Like Micki said, the proportions seem to be a little off--but I don't think that's a huge issue since this is a cartoon and cartoon proportions are always off (that's the whole point!). I think the main problem is really her right arm (the one that's holding the bigger zombiefairy). The lower arm is weirdly bent, and I'm having a hard time understanding how her elbow works. O.o I also think the difference in size between her eyes is a little too much, since her face looks a bit too flat to have so much perspective. Not a huge issue, though, I just thought I might as well mention it.

Anyhow, lovely work my dear Tabby Cat! You have a scary amount of talent. Plus, it makes me really want to read BehindTheMask's original story...

Hello, TheAlphaBunny!

I liked the posing of the girl in the drawing here. (The way his face was slightly slanted forward. That's a hard pose!) It's also neat that you've put details here. I would like to suggest some things to you though, for improvement.

First, I'd love it if you darken your colors more. It was bit dull. Your choice of colors weren't wrong; it was fine, really. But It feels like you could have added more shadings to it. But I do like the way you colored the upper part of the girl's dress. It seems shiny, and I do hope that you have intended that.

Second thing I'd like to mention are the face's features. I think you need to work on your proportions. The leg seems a little too big for the body. Was it intentional? I do not know. But I do hope you work on that.

You can also work on the fingers. They look a bit stiff, and a girl's fingers must usually look soft and gentle. Depending on the character, I guess.

Overall, I did like this. I like the wings on the creatures that are whispering in her ears. Keep on drawing and making art!

This is wonderful! You obviously have a good amount of talent.
So, most of my points have already been covered by other people, it seems, but I'll throw in something that I don't think I saw yet: in your drawing it doesn't really look like the fairies weigh anything when she's carrying them. I know that this probably sounds silly because it's such a small detail, but giving them weight as she's carrying them definitely gives them some depth and sense of reality that they would otherwise lack.
Now, I'm not saying have her arms droop and her eyes tighten like she's struggling to carry them, but perhaps the bend of her elbow can shift so her arm doesn't rise to meet it on the left, and on the right, maybe make her arm straighter on the bottom to lend more of a sitting place that would be stronger.

Just a quick thought. This really is pretty excellent. Great job. c:

Allow me to review the whole piece from top-to-bottom, for completeness

The ring of little circles as well as the big yellow (it is yellow right? I'm a little colorblind ) frame the head very well. The expression on the face looks quite devious and even a little bit alluring. You drew the hair very well; all the separate strands are framed very well, and they all flow together like a purple river (purple right? sorry if this is getting annoying)! Love the detail on the eyes and mouth too!

I don't know what kind of fairy that little thing is on her shoulder, and on her other arm, but they're drawn exceedingly well, and they look like some type of heartless from Kingdom Hearts (which is a fantastic game! ). I love it! haha. That eye on the left fairy is fantastic, and how ever did you draw the wings with such detail? Perfection with a pen, I say! haha.

All the same for the fairy on the right, and I like the eye on that one too!

The body of the woman is very shapely and well drawn (curvacious I must say! haha). It really complements the head and face. All the elements just seem to be in harmony on this piece, which makes it great!

Hey Bunny!

I've been meaning to get into reviewing more art so I stumbled upon this and was like, "wow!"
My first impression of this was very good. I like how you took the fairies and turned them into little zombies and what not. I think that was quite creative of you to do that. Another thing is the use of colors. Colors bring things to life and the way you were able to properly use them and show us some nice neat coloring was great and it gave your picture so much more too it, that extra 'umph' and pushed it a way further. Good job.

However, this is a critique and I still have a few things that I think I should mention so hopefully what I have to say will help you in the future.

I. Anatomy

Her anatomy is off. Her head is actually too big and makes her feel off balanced like she's carrying too much weight. xD
Look at her shoulders, they come in too short for the head so it gives it a weird feeling. Then look lower and her head is almost as big as her waist! D: I don't think girls like their heads looking that big. XD Be sure to measure your width and length with lines or something so you get the average proportions correct. lol I know that this is a cartoonish/animeish drawing but even so, the anatomy should be somewhat correct.

For your fairies though, I really like the way your drew them. They're quite skinny and you show that through the lines and dents in their bodies so ten points for that! ^__^
Let's take a quick look at the little guy sitting on her arm though, see his wing? I know you probably did that on purpose but his right wing looks like it's twisted. Maybe you should've made them the same because I don't normally see wings where one is going up and one is going down like that. lol

Now I must compliment you on the hair and the head of the female. Everything is pretty correct with that and her eyes are in the appropriate direction and her lips match and nose is fine and the hair compliments the angle that she's facing so I was really happy knowing that you know your angles. xD Good job! You're quite talented. I know that angles are probably one of the hardest things to get right when drawing humans so knowing that your have some knowledge on that is awesome. Two thumbs up? lol


II. Coloring and Shading

There's not much to say about this in this area itself. Your coloring is nice and neat, it stays in it's lines and is quite even so I was glad to see that. As for shading, there actually wasn't much shading at all so the picture itself is kind of flat looking. You might want to try giving it some more dimension by allowing yourself to shade in some areas and what not. I know it can be quite intimidating because what if you mess up? But if you keep your shading simple and know your light source I don't think it'll be much of a problem. You can perhaps make of copy and try shading in different area on the that copied paper and see what you like and try that out, maybe it'll help. I know that do that to some of my drawings before I feel like doing anything permanent.

Overall

In the end, this is some great work. I enjoyed looking at your creativity and no, it's not really that creepy. I've seen creepy before and this is nothing. It's quite nice to look at. I'm liking that you let your mind wander and try different things like you did with the fairies. Good job with that.

I love this. Especially how the head is slightly disproportionate to the body. It emphasises th mythical reasoning. The little demon fey are quite original, and this is a very healthy bdose of creepy. The agular design adds to the spookness. I absolutely adore this, and congratulate my sister at heart, B, for such an amazing story and prize. You are both awesomesauce.
