Hi!

This is what I do when I really, really should be doing something else. Here's the current Doctor from Doctor Who. I wish I had found a smiley source picture, but I didn't (at least one that would've been big enough), so you'll have to deal with a serious Doctor.

(Again, no scanner --> camera.)

Hi! Now, I'm not an artist, but I am a Whovian, so...

Anyway. This is a really good picture. It looks a lot like a person who looks like the Eleventh Doctor, but it doesn't look like the Eleventh Doctor. Does that make sense? I'm not sure it does. I don't know how to explain it. If I looked at it, I'd probably see the bow-tie, do a mental sigh (Bow ties are not cool. They're just not.) and think, "Hey, that guy looks like the Eleventh Doctor!" Only I'm not sure I'd look at the face and go, "Hey, the Eleventh Doctor!"

It's a great drawing, the shading and the hair and everything is really well done, only there's something not quite right about it. His head's a bit box-like. On the side towards us, his right, it looks too much like the side of a head. Box-like, you know? I know Matt Smith's got a weird face, but it's not so weird it's divided into rigid sides and planes and all. Should be a bit more rounded, softer, like. The neck's a bit fat as well.

Maybe it's the lips? I keep on staring at it, but I'm still not sure.

Okay! I've been staring at Matt Smith's fizzog on Google Images, and I think maybe there's too much space between his eyes and his ears. In other pictures taken at a similar angle, there's nowhere near as much space between his eyes and his ears and hairline, which is what's making his face look boxy. His mouth is wider and not so pouty, and although his nose isn't the best on the market, it's not as wide as that, especially at the top. There's a bit too much chin, and it's not quite as long.

Eeh, I'm not sure that was constructive, but that's what I found. Anyway, I hope it helped.

First off, I need to say, this is brilliant I really loved it, it's very realistic (Uh, I feel so stupid saying that :))

And now, um, I need to say something - constructive - although I'm a little reluctant to say it because you are *counts* SIX years older than me ^_^ but anyway...

It's his hair. The part that sort of quiff-curls-type-thing, I't looks like someone stuck a floating mop on his head, or a cat/bird is sleeping on it. What I'm trying to say is, it's not actuall the hair itself, but how you placed it. If you look at where the QCTT (stands for quiff-curl-type-thing :D) joins his other hair, the flatter part, it doesn't really merge properly, the hair should stand up slightly, and you should see a little skin, as you do in all partings, so you can tell wher the hair goes into the head, so it doesn't look like a wig. And now the part where it touches skin. In my eyes, there should be a slight shadow under it, a few strands of hair sticking out so it doesn't look like one, sweeping, hairsprayed line.

Of course these are all just my opinion, overall it was amazing, I know I could never draw like that :)

I have to agree with the review at the top, as it looks more like an Eleven-lookalike rather than Eleven himself. That said, this picture is bloody awesome. I love Matt Smith (in a totally hetero way), but the dude definitely has a unique face and that's probably what makes him hard to capture in sketch-form. Anyone, hope that helps :) Oh, and bow-ties are cool. Fezzes, too!

Wow, that's sooo realistic! It's kind of creepy how he's looking straight out at me! Aw! I really think you captured him perfectly!
If you want to be a great writer, don't think about what you're going to write, just write it.

I'm a huge fan of writers block! When your brain halts, with no direction for where you should go, it gives you threads. All you have to do is pull and unravel the story you're meant to write.

This is techinically, brilliant, and I agree it is amazing.
A few things...
1. His hair needs to be a bit longer
2. The left side of his face blends in too much with the paper
2. His head is slightly too square
But overall, i'm jealous - it's great!
Keep Drawing! :D

Dems! I didn't know how great at drawing (sketching, maybe?) you are! :D

I generally agree with the comments above. I'm not great at these things but I definitely find his head to be too boxy. Almost like his brain his exploding - perhaps if you make the top left of his face a little more vertical and make his chin rounder. I think that would be a start. I also find his bow-tie too small - we need it big and flamboyant! That's how the Doctor does it. :P

While I love how you've sketched the hair, do you think it might benefit from a more varied mixture of dark/clear lines on top? Not many, but enough to add a bit more texture to the hair, perhaps? At the moment, it's just a wavy mass - I don't feel like it's altogether there, somehow.

Other than that, I think it's great!

Okay. So I clicked on this. I scrolled down. Looked, not even at the whole picture because I hadn't scrolled down all the way yet, took a glance at half of the head. And thought to myself....
"HOLY FRICK!!!!! XO OH MY GOD, THIS IS FRICKEN AWESOME!!!"
Oh yes. True story, true story. I should know, I was there.

Yes, I am truly amazed at the amazingness of this amazing sketch. It's truly amazing. (Amazingly) I.... I honestly have no critique! >.< I feel like a failure because I have commented on this, but have given no help, for I can think of none! I'm at a complete loss for help-y-ness! Now witty comment, those I can do, but help-y-ness has flown from my mind and taken a holiday!

This is amazing~~
Okay, so I may be exaggerating slightly, but it's true! This is.... OMFG THIS IS AWESOME! XO I think his nose may be a little sharp though.... Like... square-like. But other than that I don't really have anything else. I don't agree with the comments above, about his head being boxy (Well... I mean, it IS boxy... but... that's just how he looks) If I hadn't seem a picture of him a few days ago, then I might agree. But since I saw (quite a few) pictures of him, I think this looks extremely similar to how he actually looks. (Though I've never seen Doctor Who before)

Truly amazed~
Keep up the AMAZING work~ X3
