My heart is a beach made of glass.
With each wild, throbbing pulse you create,
It bruises, overflowing with your footprint in its sand.
If it were anyone else stepping on my beach,
The glass would crack. They would fall, and I could do nothing.
You walk on a thin line, following the contours
Of the seaweed and tiny shells that line the shore.

You are the waves, intertwined with my pulse,
Washing back and forth across the shore.
You’re playful, barely touching the glass with water.
But, to me, your waves are overpowering.
You may be the tiny whip of a curling wave,
But I feel your force like a tsunami,
Threatening to wash over the glass and crack it.

Let me take a minute to breathe,
To revel in your power.
I need to take control over my emotions;
I need to rebuild my beach.
Let me turn back the clocks of time,
So this glass may again be sand.
So I can feel your touch against my shore.
Oh, I long to know what that feels like,
For you to completely take me over,
Drowning me in your waves.
But I’m too fragile;
My heart is a beach made of glass.

I very much like the premise of this poem...I think comparing the heart to sand is apt because, as you say, it can be as soft as sand or hardened as glass. Your use of the second person point of view definitely gives it a personal tone, sort of like a confessional, which is always a good thing with poems dealing with love. The poem's structure and your use of punctuation thew me off, however, especially with abrupt endings in the middle stanza:

Washing back and forth across the shore.
You’re playful, barely touching the glass with water.
But, to me, your waves are overpowering.

But overall, I like it! With some minor editing you will improve this piece greatly. Good work :)

This is so cool. I've never seen anything compared like sand and glass like this before. It made for a very interesting read. It was well written, and I love it!! :)

I like this poem. I like how you describe the beach and relate it to a heart, with the waves crashing over it and such. I also enjoy the vision of the waves crashing onto the beach like a tsunami, even though they may be small and insignificant. You have a good amount of description, and a fine beat. Keep writing!

Been quiet for a couple years, we'll see how this one goes.
