Humour Forum

I'm relatively new here, and am amazed by the variety of genres you guys cover at YWS. There are forums for romance, sci-fi, poetry and more. There are a lot of brilliant writers here, and I'm sure there are some great comedians too, but I haven't come across a lot of humorous works. Would a humour forum encourage people to reveal the funny side of literature?

Y'know, different lit forum ideas pop up all the time-- we've had suggestions for horror and mystery forums, and humor might've been brought up before too. I think the reason that they keep not happening, though, is that those sort of things are usually incorporated into some other genre. Really funny stories, for example, normally have their plot grounded in something else-- romance, sci-fi, adventure, fantasy, etc-- and then there's the confusion of "Which forum do I put it in? It's funny, but it's also _____!" I can't see there being enough demand for just-plain-humor stories.

That's just my thought process, though. Maybe there are hundreds of budding satirists/comedians that I don't know of? D:

I agree with Evi, mostly. I think though it just depends on how you interpret the forum. How would it be carried out?

Yes. Most horror, and others like that have horror not as the main topic.

Also comedic works aren't usually presented in a written form. Although jokes are written down, the effect of the speaker is big in comedy and so it doesn't work well in writing to often.
