Not as random as you think, first tell me though what font you're using and what your back ups are.

My main font is Calibri (body) and the alternate (for special cases and when Calibri isn't appropriate) I really enjoy the look of Times New Roman. Both of which are pretty default when it comes to Microsoft Word at least.

I think a good readable font is just as important to the writer as it is to the reader. It definitely helps in the editing process. ;)

For stuff that I turn in for school I always use Times New Roman (unless otherwise specified by the professor) because its more professional.

In my own personal documents I use Calibri (body) because its the default font for Microsoft Word.

School alternates between Cambria (default) and Helvetica. Writing is near-exclusively Book Antiqua, because I found it less condensed than Times New Roman (which is too formal for me).

But if I'm getting marks on presentation for the report all bets are off as I will try out a dozen fonts to get it to look right. If I'm doing creative work... don't ask. Just don't.

I can't write in anything but Georgia.

For uni I used Verdana (I hate Times New Roman).

I've never liked Times New Roman. Ugh. I usually use Helvetica (it's the default font on my computer).

Wingdings. In a few special occasions I might use Webdings.

Georgia, sometimes Book Antiqua. :D

Calibri is a huge step up from the previous default, TImes New Roman, in my opinion, and it is what I use most of the time now.
