Watercolor

So. Hola!
It's been a while since I last posted something in AAP, and I just got a new watercolor set (Reeves), so that's what this is about.
If you want to know what it is...well, let's just say a snake eating its own tail can't be a good sign.
Brown ink and ink pen for lines, watercolor for, well...color.

Jent, I'm not much of an art expert, but I had to comment say that this is beautiful -- like the rest of your work! The intricacy of the chain design is amazing, and I love the snake. Great work.

I'm kind of new to this whole reviewing thing but let me see if I can come up with something helpful to say! ok so I rly like the shape and the design and everything! its so mysterious and amazing! and it looks like it's some ancient rune sort of thing! wow!

Now for teh negative things! i'm not actually sure what to say... but! is it just me or is the snake's scales on the left side of the picture moor fuzzy than on the right side?!?! that might just be me tho! or your camera i guess!

also i kind of wish the colors were brighter because right now it looks a little like pastels or something! but I love it anyway!! i am in awe of your skills man!

I LOVE this. There is absolutily nothing I can crit this for, so Im sticking to just reviewing.

The snake

The chain (Its my favorite part)
Things I'm iffy on:
The backgrounds. They just seem pointless

Nothing at all

RH - Thanks! My scanner is kinda weird sometimes, so it isn't as good as it should be.

ArtyChoke - The scales there are actually blurred because the watercolor diluted the ink lines. Darn non-waterproof ink. ;D Also, the scanner killed the colors XD. I took a few pictures with a camera, and those are high saturation.

WritersUnleashed - Thanks, the eye was fun to do. By 'backgrounds' did you mean the blue circle behind the triangle?

Hey, Jen. I must say, you're a very, very good artist. This was displayed on my homepage as "recommended for you." It's funny 'cause I don't always click that, but when I saw your name, "Hey! It's Jen's"; and I didn't make a mistake on clicking this to give a quick review.

OK, to make this review meaningful, I'm giving out constructive criticism. You know, Jen. You always amaze me when I see an artwork of yours. But I would like to see some improvement. I don't know how long you spent drawing this, but I just hoped that you added in a bit more shadings to it. Frankly, it didn't meet my expectations when I saw the title "Watercolor". As I can see (just my thoughts! Don't worry, Jen!) the only thing that brought this up was the way you drew it. I mean, without the drawing - the lines, it wouldn't be as awesome. The coloring was a bit flat. It looks like a illustration for a kiddie book.

Don't get me wrong, Jen. This Ouroboros has amazing intricate designs. I don't know how you do it! I'm still a fan of yours. Just show me MORE! You know what I mean? I know that you can be better, and better... till I can't say anything anymore but "Wow"... *drop jaws*

KEEP UP THE GREAT ARTWORKS! Keep them coming. =)

You are really good with the watercolors, personally I suck at them. Never got the hold of 'em.
It's something with the medium though, watercolors always kinda look dull after they dry.
Though there is symbolism in this, and you should explain what do they mean. It adds depth in your art

Jash - Thanks! And I know what you mean. One of the reasons I got a watercolor set was so I could expand my artistic sense. Also, about improving...I technically can't. XD
You see, I'm homeschooled, and...yeah, you know what that means. My dad was an artist, and I've been learning from him, but I really don't think I'll learn much more until I get to college.
I downlaod as many art tutorials as I can from the internet though, and try to learn that way.
Also, it's an Ouroboros? Nice...

Spike - Thanks! The snake eating itself represents infinity, and a triangle inside of a circle means eternal life. The blue backround represents heaven, and the red hexagons represent hell (6-sided). The eye in the triangle is the All-Seeing eye found on some American dollar bills.
As to what it all means put together, well...that's your interpretation.

I really like the painting. The eye at the top of the triangle sort of reminds me of a dollar bill. Is that where you got your inspiration from? Is it supposed to be an abstract shape, or a seal of some sort? I think the edges of the polygon, especially the shading are pretty tricky, and you have done a good job. Water colour is a hard medium to work with, it is pretty runny, but great work.

Wow! You're really good at watercolors! I, myself, am not great at watercolors. I'm more of a sketching person. I love the way you make the pictures stand out. May I suggest to use more colorful colors? That's just my opinion. You don't have to listen to my advice, but I'm the type of person who uses bright colors in my drawings. (I don't really color, so I don't think I have the right to say this kind of stuff) But your art is amazing! I love it! I wish I could work with watercolors like that, but I'm going to stick with sketching.

tr3x - Thanks, the eye is actually the Eye of Providence (or the All-Seeing-Eye) and can be found on American dollar bills.

BlackRosel - Hmm, I almost typed 'BlackSheep' there, you have the same Xx's as BlackSheep.
Anyways, I decided to mute my colors so that it would go a little better with ominous theme. You can see here some brighter works I did.

Brooklyn Writer - Thanks! I'll admit that the tip isn't the right color. At first, I was going to make the whole triangle with the eye blue, but then I made it red so it would stand out. however, that little chink was already blue. Darn it. XD

Wow, lovely design. Reminds me of something from the legend of zelda. Looks royal and elegant but also kind of mysterious and creepy at the same time... <3

Thanks, Mangawolf! I've never played Legend of Zelda, so I wouldn't have a clue as to what art in the game looks like. XD
