A/N: So, I got bored and decided to do a free-write in the style of a television teen drama show's pilot. I.e. this could be a teaser, in its own way. It isn't finished, but tell me if it's attention-grabbing, the sort of stuff a teaser should be, etc., because this is my first tv-length script and I don't do scripts very often, so I'm rusty. But...I'm pretty sure it is just a scene. So...
Reviewers--come one, come all. Basically. Just, uh, no flames, if you would be so kind. I could make s'mores with them, but I'm out of graham crackers...

Oh! And if you have any ideas, prompts, suggestions, you would be willing to give to me (and not sue me for using later), feel free to post 'em. I hope to continue this. I'm liking the character interaction so far...

COLD OPEN:

EXT. High School - Day

A cool day. Wind sends loose papers skidding along the asphalt and ruffles one young man’s hair where he sits on the only bench outside the school. His name is ED HARKER and he looks like a sort a father wouldn’t like dating his daughter. Another male, JO LEWIS, is sitting beside him. He is much more respectable-looking, and a honey-blond.

PEOPLE STUMBLE BY, chatting amongst themselves in small, close groups as they WALK TOWARDS THE SCHOOL DOORS.

ED HARKER
You know, these people are--

JO LEWIS
Don’t even finish that.

Jo FLICKS a cigarette butt off the bench and to the ground. Ed RAISES AN EYEBROW.

JO LEWIS (CONT.)
It’s not mine.

Ed ROLLS HIS EYES and LEANS BACK IN THE CHAIR.

ED HARKER
I know it’s not yours. If it were yours, you’d smell like a ruddy ashtray. And I’d bet like you’d taste like one, too, and then your girlfriend would come whining to me like I’m bloody Kronos and could fix it.

JO LEWIS
What does some titan or whatever have to do with anything?

ED HARKER
Dunno. But I bet a time-lord on an anti-smoking kick could help people stop smoking.

JO LEWIS
Yeah, your mind still scares me.

Jo checks his watch.

JO LEWIS (CONT.)
I probably should head to class.

Ed SCOFFS.

ED HARKER
The bell hasn’t rung yet.

JO LEWIS
Lily likes me to carry her books.

Ed SHRUGS his shoulders and PURSES his lips.

ED HARKER
Okay, fine. But meet me at the lockers at the lowest floor at lunch. I have a surprise.

JO LEWIS
What sort of surprise?

Ed SMILES.

ED HARKER
The kind you’ll hate.

Jo HUFFS and starts MESSING with the straps on his backpack, preparing to have to tote the heavy thing around.

JO LEWIS
Lovely.

Ed STANDS UP and WALKS OFF.

JO LEWIS (CONT.)
(Yelling)
Wait, WHICH lockers?

It's interesting so far. I think you should make a little note about what the time period is. Right now, I get the sense that it doesn't take place in modern day because of the way the characters talk. Also maybe make a quick note about what country too? You use "bloody" so I'm picturing a high-school in the UK. I know it's just a teaser, but I didn't really get a sense of plot. Is this just a "slice of life" type of TV show? Because it's alright if those don't really have a plot. However, if it has a plot, it's a good idea to let the viewer get a sense of it through the teaser. Otherwise I liked it. Keep going!

P.S. If you want prompts, you might want to check out the Plot Bunny Adoption agency thread in the Writing Activities forum.
Check these out please! :)

I really liked this, it made me giggle even though I'm not exactly sure why. Idraax already covered the only things I could think of that was wrong. Keep up the good work.
I'm smiling, that alone should scare you.

Hm... cool... well, like, my only real complaints are it was short (which isn't really a bad thing, but if it was longer I would have more to critique, you know), that I'm sort of left thinking, "Wait, how do these two know each other? What's the surprise? What's going on!?" and, I wish you would've italisized the things that weren't dialogue...

Besides the italisizing thing, I'm not telling you to change anything, I'm just sort of... what's the phrase? Left hanging off a cliff or something... and, I mean, yeah, I feel like a TV drama has to have something unique... I didn't get a sense of that, but it's prob'ly just because I haven't read much of it...
