Just a Little Query

First off, congrats on making this far!

Second, have you tried googling query letters? That's how I learned to do mine, it was of great help!

This is the fate of the Spellcasters, a group of people with extraordinary abilities. No one knows who they are, where they are, or what they can do. They only know they should fear them. Six year old Evie knows all of this, but she has no idea how much it will all change her life in the years to come.

This is a really confusing paragraph because I can't follow all the 'they's. I suggest you cut it down a little.

Generally speaking, a query letter should never be more than a page and if you have nothing to say about yourself, then don't. Just speak of the genre, the amount of words you have, and that your novel is completed. It isn't necessary to add anything if you have nothing in the publishing industry to mention (such as winning a contest or being published in a magazine or something).

I think your story is very intriguing and that's great: you've caught my interest. Also, I hope you know not to write dear agent? You really need to write the name of the person you're sending it to. Maybe even mention that you've read books by the authors they represent or something so that they know you've done your homework.

I've found the site you mentioned also very useful -- it gives really good advice. Anyway, I'm going to fix this letter up and then, perhaps...send it out. Thanks again!
